Here he is, the ladies' man, the cool cat, the golden boy himself, Johnson!

As the image attached to this post makes quite clear, I have received art for Johnson's definitive in-game character sprite, which brings us ever closer to a Bunny Girls game in a completed state.

I'll be honest, my attention has been divided between many different little things lately and I haven't been making the progress I hoped I would have on The Bunny Girls game so far.

Adding to this situation is my back-and-forth with Steam about the release of the game on their platform. Setting up the store page has been a hassle, not only in creating visual assets for it, but also how to present the game (and its erotic violence) without triggering any of their alarms.

Well, it seems I have failed to do so, and now they are withholding the release of the store page until I share a playable build of the game with them. They want to play it first before they can take the decision to host the game on their platform or not, which is not something that is requested of every game.

I have been there before, and I've had a game blocked from release on Steam before, long ago, under another dev name. And I'm kinda freaking out seeing the story potentially repeat itself. The game is under tight scrutiny and will be judged accordingly.

I do not have the best feeling about this whole situation, and it makes it doubly important to produce a 'cleaner' Steam version of the game, which might delay the entire release of the game to the public. You guys should have a complete version first, as I'll share it here as soon as it is ready.

Also, I suppose I could release the game on Itchio first, but the real profit is made on Steam, that's no surprise. I'd be quite disappointed to have the game blocked from release on there. Also, when they ban your game, they still keep the 100$ USD app fee you had to pay to create the store page, which is just adding salt to the wound, if you ask me. Oh well.

As for progress towards a completed version of The Bunny Girls game, here is the roadmap as I see it :

  • Fully integrate Johnson's new character sprite (in progress)
  • Correct logical errors in story progression (in progress)
  • Clean up and remove all AI art, especially backgrounds (in progress)
  • Add new content warning screens (done)
  • Add one last CG scene by reusing existing assets (not started)
  • Balance sound and music levels (not started)
  • Modify mini-games to use only keyboard keys and not mouse (not started)
  • Re-read the entire game and fix typos/mistakes/tweak phrasing here and there (not started)

Let me know in the comments or in DMs if I'm missing something you feel is important to fix before release.

That said, I won't leave you guys empty-handed. I'm planning on giving you a new build of The Bunny Girls game next week, in whichever current state it'll be.

But that's not all!

You'll also get a surprise build of something else! Hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I do.

Until then, stay safe out there!

Hope it wont be too much of a hassle to release a clean one for steam, That said as long as the violent stuff censored it should be ok I think.

But the violence is in the game's DNA, in its minigames and all that. I was thinking of censoring all blood, removing the x-ray effects, and clearly state that everyone survives the night (no death). I hope this will be enough. I can't cut out entire CG scenes because if I do that, why would you want to play, you know?

Just Me

Well… that's annoying. Hopefully, you can find a compromise that's not too much effort for you and keeps the game intact enough. I guess this also might not bode too well for the Vivian games?
