the hole time gil didint want to take him seriously he didn't put his armor on he didnt user his strongest stuff once he did end up useing that stuff he thought he would have lost if he used that stuff against a mere fake copier becuse of his arrogance and pride thats why at the end even tho gil was the last standing he said he lost he forced his hand and he tried to use his best wepon

Don't forget to watch the OVA that acts like an epilogue. That said Shirou just had a lot of luck in his fight. Gilgamesh took it easy on him. EA was previously used on Rider in Fate Zero. When Saber came back briefly the Avalon, the artifact thats still inside him, healed him once more after getting hit by EA's wind. There's more to Shirou's power that can be explained better after you watch Kara no Kyoukai. But basically by absorbing Avalon in the past it changed his magic's origin to sword. So he has an affinity with bladed weapons mostly swords.

I’m sure people have already told you but you should definitely do the sunny day ova after episode 25, or maybe pair em together. It’s an alternate ending to the UBW route

Regarding Gilgamesh' OP sword, Ea, he only uses it on those he deemed worthy. And it is the same sword he used in his last fight with Rider from Fate/Zero. He respected Rider that he deemed him worthy. And the fact that Saber was again ordered to destroy the grail lol

I'm a big fan of Kara no Kyoukai, but you really don't need to watch it to know about origins in fate, as origins are barely relevant and only matter if you want to do a deep dive into the magic system

It does add some context to how certain magic works. They never really dive too deeply on how things function. It's not needed of course.

She's more than likely won't be returning to Fate after Heaven's Feel so it really doesn't matter what order. Plus that one can be watched without context because it's explained in the series what's going on.

Heaven's Feel is a 3 part Movie each around 2 hours long my inner fate fan would say watch them all but that would be too much but once you see the first it gonna be hard not want to watch the others right after.

Fateful Grand Orders

Since you seem to really enjoy this cast of characters, might I recommend "Today's Menu for the Emiya Family"? The episodes are only half as long, but it's very slice of life. It's almost like everyone was just like "Holy grail? Who cares! I'm hungry!" Just a warning though, you might want to eat something before watching an episode because you will definitely be hungry afterwards.

Shirou vs Gilgamesh was an insane fight. My 2nd favorite fight from the series. It made sense UBW was a direct counter to Gil's Gate of Babylon. Idk if you realized but when Shirou was coming down from the sky, Gil hesitated for a moment to use Ea but his pride got the best of him and that's why he lost. Also Ea is something Shirou couldn't copy because it's too complex. Archer's farewell gets me everytime :')
