Just one thing to note: The time passed between Mjurran meeting Youm and them arriving at Tempest was around a month. They were basically traveling together for a while which the anime didn't mention which is why they seem a lot closer so fast.

If you love SoL you should watch 3-Gatsu no Lion (English: March comes in like a Lion). It is my favorite SoL/Drama manga/anime to date! And it's one of the few manga/anime creation I can only give a 10/10. The characters are a 100/10 and they really carry everything else. The artwork, while it is special it works and is really pretty. The animation is mostly flawless and top notch for a SoL. The soundtrack including the Op's & Ed's is great and really works with the scene. The drama, the sport and the romance (a little) just rounds up everything together and moves the story forward. I highly recommend it , it got 2 season with 22 episodes each and with fans still waiting for the 3rd season. The manga does sell really really well and thus it's only a matter of time till we should get a new season from Shaft.

To be fair the anime doesn't really do a good job with how much time is passing or the distance between Tempest to point X etc.. For that I think you really should read the LN. And it didn't really help that they changed the order of events in the anime.

Yeah, the anime makes it seem like they make a plan and immediately execute it while Rimuru is away for a few days. The anime goes in too much detail about useless fluff, but tends to skip important details like this. I have no interest in reading the LN though (or any LN, ever), but from what I read it pretty much pushes the things that I think S2 already has too much of to 11.

Oh Jaime, you think that you're ready but you have no idea. This is the point where you want to make sure that you're well stocked on tissues and that what makeup you're wearing can't get messed up too badly. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it brought grown men to tears, not that it's shameful for men to cry in spite of what some believe. Of course I'm glad that you're still continuing with this series, and I'll be looking forward to your next video very soon.

One of the things in the Light Novel that's skipped in the Anime & Manga to an extent is Rimuru tends to severely underestimate his own strength or those around him. He does this because he always has Great Sage do battle simulations in his head against different monsters to see what the outcome will be. A good example was when they faced the Orc army so long ago Rimuru was truly surprised at how much damage they were doing, because the skills they used were at a much higher level then he could do himself. That was why he went to AutoBattle mode with Great Sage. He knew Great Sage could use his skills to the same level as he saw them using or better. At this point he's learning to use the skills without great sage, especially with things like physical fighting / swordsmanship, but if it's a situation he doesn't have a clear read on he tends to act cautiously. This is why he was afraid of Shuna & Shion. Even if he's stronger, he doesn't always see that in his head and sometimes he forgets. Granted some of this was for comedy as well, but his view is part of that.

It's not a battle. It doesn't require Skills to handle it. But he does need to practice, both he and Great Sage work on it. Some types of techniques are not really Skills either, like swordplay, it's kind of more like chi in martial arts that even those who have little magic can practice, like Youm. Hakurou is a master at this kind of Art.
