As because anime onlies refuse for us to explain in more detail about what actually happened in these episodes. I respect their opinions and pray that the anime next part at least some how try to explain them properly

Otto's name is pronounced Ah-toe btw. The way you say it's kinda funny though

Thanks for all the reactions recently. Glad you caught up in time

Echidna is an evil witch that only wants information from Subaru. First echidna tried to use fear to bring in Subaru, but when that didn't work she tried to use lust to bring in Subaru. Then when that didn't work she tried to use compassion and acting normal around Subaru to get information out of him, because she is the witch of greed. Also with the witch of lust, lust isn't only sexual. Subaru wanted to see rem above anything else so that was his lust, just to see rem

I wouldn't actually call Echidna evil as she's more of a sociopath who doesn't desire evil but also won't fight evil for the sake of it. She isn't a good person, but she isn't really a bad person either. She's just cold/logical and only does things that benefit her, which is fitting for a person who only cares for knowledge. A lot of people are like this, especially in the business world.

I highly suggest you watch 2 videos from AniNews that go over the cut content for episodes 12 and 13. Episode 12 has some interesting information regarding the worlds Subaru saw in the 2nd trial. Episode 13 has some seriously crucial information that despite what people say, can't be brought up naturally again. For context, the information revealed in that tea party has yet to be brought up again in the novels even 2 arcs down the line. Unfortunately the anime skipped over that stuff and it will be a miracle if they can include that information in the 2nd cour without straying too far from the canon. Oh and also Puck stood no chance against Reinhard. Reinhard is the strongest character in Re Zero rivaling Satella. Puck doesn't even make it in the top 10.

Sekhmet (the Witch of Sloth) should be a lawyer, cause that was a great catch. She absolutely hit the nail on the head. If a contract states that you will get what you want "in the end," or uses any other open-ended language, you should probably run for the hills. There's no question that Echidna COULD get Subaru from Point A to Point B, and she probably WOULD eventually, but the cost would be far too great. She's the Witch of GREED, someone who wants to know everything in the world. There is no limit to her appetite for knowledge. Her stipulation that Subaru must be willing to make sacrifices isn't just limited to others; she'd be using his Return By Death like a kid with a bag full of candy on Halloween. "Oh, there's a fork in the road? Left or right.... left or right..... let's experience both!" "You're treating me to dinner? That's great! Now then, what to eat? Chicken? Steak? Pizza? Wait, I can only get one? Let's just try everything, one life at a time." "Should I save this person? Should I let them die? How much of an impact does this person's life make on the world? Let's watch both scenarios play out." Technically, Echidna would fulfill her contract "in the end," but by that point, who knows how many times Subaru would have died. His mental state is already pretty damaged at this point, so just imagine what he'd be like after Echidna was through with him. I'm glad he turned her down. I haven't read the light novels, and I've managed to stay spoiler free (knock on wood), so I have no idea if that changes, but I certainly hope he stands his ground.

So much to unpack: Beatrice: Really love her VA, she just sounds so sad. Her death scene is hauntingly beautiful, Subaru trying to catch the remnants is just heartbreaking. And her whole scenario too, she expected the book to tell her when 'that person' arrived, but 'that person' would only be someone she chose. Also interesting fact about her design, her pupils have butterflies, a staple in Echidna's outfit/theme. Roswaal: So basically Roswaal has done everything for his goal. We don't know the goal yet, but he believes the best path is to back Emilia in the royal selection. He knows that Subaru loves Emilia, so Roswaal is basically trying to ensure that Subaru will have the resolve to make Emilia ruler too. Basically Roswaal and Subaru's interests align so Roswaal uses Subaru as a tool to make his goal a reality. It's also why Roswaal left Subaru to save Emilia and beat the white whale, cause eventually in one timeline, Subaru would do what Roswaal wanted him too. Subaru: I think in order to understand why Subaru feels that way we gotta look at the Emilia camp: Rem is gone, Puck is disappeared, Emilia is clearly distraught over Puck's disappearance to the point where Subaru feels like he is secondary, Beatrice wants to die, Roswaal (and Ram by extension) have their own agenda. He basically has no one that he feels that likes him at the moment. And while he may know that Otto sees him as a friend, Otto just isn't as a heavy hitter to basically any of the mentioned above. In addition, Subaru, knowing that he isn't strong, relies on RBD to do everything, this is why he feels like there is more value to his death than his life. I really like the line by Satella 'why can't you see that you should be included in those you wish to save'. Subaru tries so hard to save everyone, but not himself. Power level notes: Reinhard is super strong, to the point where he would be able to take down the White Whale solo basically. He has a ton of blessings (basically passive buffs). It's rare for someone to get one that is useful and he has a lot, some of them are silly (ability to never mix up salt and sugar) and some of them are OP as hell (we'll see some in future of series). Another fun, not technically cannon note, if Ram didn't lose her horn, she would be among the strongest people in the series.

Splargle

To clarify the deal that Echidna is offering Subaru since its not explained perfectly, she will essentially force him to experience every possible path of failure for her own knowledge before she shows him what the correct path is, so instead of solving an issue in 5 or 6 lives, she could very well force him to explore 200 deaths before she told him the right answer, guaranteeing him the best result in the end but forcing him to suffer more as he lives through all those experiences, only allowing him to remain emotionally sane because of the contract, that's why sacrifice is the prerequisite for him accepting her contract, he will have to sacrifice everybody over and over again until shes bored and wants to see the next scenario.

Ray

Just curious wasn't there supposed to be a noblesse final episode reaction a couple of days ago? or am I missing something?

Puck's comment to Reinhard of "a hero is all you can be" is basically dehumanizing him & an important point of Reinhard's character, I love it. At the end, Subaru's breakdown is because he's become so reliant on Return by Death that he lost all value in himself & his own life. The 2nd Trial & Satella showed him that people still do care about him as a person, and his only value isn't only just saving people by dying. "Am I allowed to think people I like, like me too?" is a very uplifting message in the end :)

Anonymous

For Subaru, I agree on the last line, but it's moreso the fact that he's become dependent on RbD and completely ignored the fact that people care about his life in general. Obviously he knows specific people like Otto care about him, but the death loops have made him completely self-centered in his attempts to save everyone, ironically.

I heard in the greed IF route she makes subaru die like a thousand times or such (I forgot now) to find the best possible outcome. youtuber echidnut made a video about it. it was super interesting. check it out if you haven't. 😁

gruntmaster1

Yes, not sure if it is currently on Patreon. All videos on a previous video site was deleted and she has been re-uploading series over time.
