I gotta say, shows always try to portray birth, but there really is something about it that can only be understood by seeing it. There must be something in the human psyche that unlocks when witnessing birth. I never understood the big deal behind it until I saw my sister giving birth. Miracle really is a good word for it.

don't get me wrong. fma is a good anime but it isn't as good as ppl make it seem. it's wayyy too overate. animes like re zero and the new series the rising of the shield heroes is wayy better but underrated.

As further information... In the manga, Izumi didn't left the two childs alone in that island. She sent an assistant (the one who tells the couple in episode 13 where Ed and Al were) to the island, as well, disguised as a "monster". He made the month they spent there even more terrible (fighting them and stealing their food), as it was ordered by Izumi, to test their determination. But also, of course, to keep an eye on them, in case things went really bad quickly. And I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this, but you just gotta love how perfect the Elric brothers and the Curtis couple are for each other. The Curtis are the parents they lost, and needed, and they are the children the Curtis wanted, but could never have.
