Trying to be more measured in my commenting - apparently not being very successful at it - LOL Things have gotten so messy between characters in the show that it is telling that Rhaenyra and Laenor have the healthiest relationship of all. They not always agree, but at least they talk to each other and seem to actually care for each other. Also, for all her talk about decency and piety, Alicent seems to surround herself with psychopaths - case in point: Criston and Larys. Not sure what she expected would happen. 😲

I remember someone commenting that atleast she felt bad about the death but you know what? I’m thinking she could have outright reprimanded Larys for that shit. She actually saw how that was beneficial for her. I know she’s just bitter she became a child bride but her hatred is being directed at the wrong person. Also, incest aside, I actually felt like Rhaenyra’s proposition was actually good to wed her eldest son and Helenor together?? But Alicent is being.. unreasonable. Viserys though.. a good man in a cruel world. :(

Alicent has always believed in doing her duty - duty to her father, duty to her family, duty to her husband, etc. - and she never felt like she had much of a choice. I think this has made her especially resentful towards Rhaenyra, who skirts her duty, lies to everybody, and - more or less - does what she wants, and worse, from Alicent's perspective, gets away with it.

Fun fact from the book: In the small council meeting, when they are talking about the continuing feud between the Brackens and the Blackwoods - these two families are like the Hatfields and the McCoys of Westeros - we hear a mention of GROVER Tully, the lord of Riverrun. Well, lord GROVER's grandson is named ELMO Tully and his great grandsons are named KERMIT Tully and OSCAR Tully... Oh George! 😂

It would be amazing if you also did Game of Thrones after HotD. Yes, the last season is bad but overall it's such a great show and it would be interesting to see someone react to it in opposite order to the rest of us who have seen GoT before HotD!
