ah, finally. This was the episode I think we were all waiting for. I absolutely love the evil trick where they faked stabbing Tanjiro in the chin/mouth a few episodes ago only to be saved by Tengen, and then in this episode they went, "PSYCHE! We totally will stab him in the chin! Like this! And then let's hang on this shot while Tanjiro monologues so you can see him stabbed in the chin!" As to your comment about previous anime not having such brutal injuries, it's to do with Japan's censorship. Even when that kind of injury would happen to a character, there's no blood, or it's very implied. Or they just mosaic censor it, but it would also push their age rating into different time slots. Like Umineko no Naku Koro Ni, a horror anime that aired in 2007, people would be killed in horrifically awful ways, and their bodies would be censored by a mosaic. But you'll notice that there's still no gore in things like their organs or viscera spilling out and the like. Anime that did show things like that weren't televised in Japan, and would only have movie releases or video releases. Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, and Jujutsu Kaisen are the first really big mainstream anime to push the envelope this far.

Oh btw, a small hint to a detail most ppl overlook: There is a meaning behind Gyutaro's attacks directly to the eyes of his opponents. Until now he aimed for Tanjiros eye twice and he got Tengens eye on the second try. Not to forget that he gives Daki his left eye to sync.

Also, wanted to point out that Demon Slayer is really good at using music to reflect mood. This episode, season 1 ep 17 when Zenitsu killed the spider demon, and the movie have truly excellent sound design and music choice. Case in point, in this episode from the moment the siblings are beheaded until the blood explosion there is no music. At first it seems calming after the chaos, but then it adds to the eerie discomfort leading to the ridiculous finale.

Beautiful reaction. This is by far may my most favourite episode of Demon Slayer so far. I truly believe that Ufotable was trying to incur the reaction you had into every Anime Fan. I too cried during this episode just like Mugen Train. When Tengen saved Tanjiro you could see the relief on Tanjiro's face knowing that his senpai has his back. The creepiest part is when Gyutaro slashes Tengen's eye the sound effects of Gyutaro Growling when he does it so impactful. Big credits to all voice actors and Ufotable.

Can I suggest watching " The Saga of Tanya the Evil " even if you don't do a reaction to the series just watch it for your own entertainment. I think you will really like it.
