I've always actually read her tears as being at least partly genuine. The whole thing that the best lies are based in some truth.

Also, looking forward to your Serenity reaction! As great is it would've been to see a longer show run the movie is a very good job making about as satisfying an end to the series as they could.

I really like to think that if the show had gone on, Yo-Saff-Bridge would have been back at least a couple times every season, with a new name and a new husband, until Mal was calling her something ridiculous like Yo-Ann-Dar-Saff-Eve-Rach-Bridge-Nat-Lorry.

You said you called 2 things before they happened...one was that the guy they were stealing from was also her husband which was truly a spot on guess. The first was "maybe Saffron is Monty's wife" at the beginning. Which was likely planted for you since they showed Saffron in the recap before the episode started so she was already in your mind.
