Happy Monday, Addie! I hope that you had a great weekend. 😊 This is a great movie. Easily one of my favorite Mel Gibson films. And one that I always have to watch every spooky season. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

Alex Tan

Let's give Addie a round of applause for surviving Signs (2002) as her SECOND M. Night Shyamalan Disney movie, after The Sixth Sense (1999). 👏👏 Happy Monday. I own this on DVD and I'm gonna give it a watch either tonight or this coming weekend. BTW, I just watched Misery (1990) with my girlfriend and we both enjoyed it and she has recommended it to her mom as well.

Speaking of M. Night Shyamalan, I also suggest the Eastrail 177 trilogy (including Unbreakable (2000), Split (2016), & Glass (2019)), as well as The Village (2004), Lady in the Water (2006), The Happening (2008), After Earth (2013), The Visit (2015), Old (2021), Knock at the Cabin (2023) and Trap (2024). #MoreMNightShyamalanForAddieCounts

Alex Tan

...and did you watch the 1993 Special Edition or the Theatrical Version of The Abyss (1989)?

Thats MR. Baldamort

Im glad you liked this movie. Might I suggest the movie that is part of what inspired this movie? A Tom Cruise, Steven Spielberg directed movie called "War of the Worlds" (2005) its not a horror movie, its more sci fi/mystery. Not as freaky as signs. Its based on the "war of the worlds" novel which then later was made to be a radio show before television was a thing.

Julian San

Addie, let’s hear YOUR birth story. And preferably while Aliens are trying to bust down your door.

Guillaume Huet

Hi Addie! Did you notice who M. Night Shyamalan portrays in this movie?

Luis Fernandez

I envy your ability to find tension anywhere. I remember laughing at the birthday party scene when I first watched this movie because for all we knew the alien was just a youngster that saw kids having fun and wanted a slice of cake. Somewhere, in some alternate universe, there's a truly scary version of this movie where the villain is a female Scandinavian Olympian.

Cameron Kerby

Hi Addie! I’m so glad you watched Signs. I love this movie so much and not just for the alien goodness, but for the family drama side of it. It was so sad as well as heartwarming the dynamic the family had. And the cast nailed it. Now’s the time I renew my suggestion for you to watch Star of Echoes. I really think if you can get through The Sixth Sense you can make it through this.

Major Peril

“DON’T GO INTO THE CORN!” 😁 Loved that one! Some really great jump scares and reactions here, glad Addie survived and eventually enjoyed it. One of my favorite early Shyamalan films. You might want to try another of his early films: The Village (2004). Ever notice how most if not all M. Night Shyamalan movies take place in or around Philadelphia or some nearby place in Pennsylvania? He was raised in Penn Valley, Pennsylvania and obviously likes the area and uses that knowledge in his films. Also, he has a cameo roll in most all his films. Can you identify him?

Jasbro

Damn this or Tucker vs Dale might get her over that (long overdue) 100k subs mark when they're out, Signs is a fantastic movie to do it with as well. If it happens to be Signs that does do it maybe she should watch the new Alien Romulus movie as a bonus lol, which you can do btw Addie you only need to have seen the first Alien movie.

Alex Lee

The silhouette on the roof, the hand and the reflection in the TV get me every time!

Alex Tan

Another M. Night Shyamalan movie that also has Joaquin Phoenix in it, that I also suggest is The Village (2004). #TheVillageForAddieCounts

Thats MR. Baldamort

Lol, Addie being overly paranoid and freaking out so much was as entertaining as I thought it would of been. However, she could barely handle this very VERY mild horror movie. So we cant be requesting actual horror films here on this channel. Which is a shame.

Mike Adams

I love all the Voguing in this one :)

Byrd N. Hand

Yes, as I've said before, just like with J.J. Abrams, he's a good director from a technical standpoint, but it's his desire to also have complete control of the story aspect that usually fails him. It's almost as if he comes up with an ending first and then tries to reverse engineer a story around it. 🤔 It worked for "The Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable," but I feel here is where it started showing its limitations.

Doug

So on a side note this was Abigail Breslin's first film appearance (she played the cute water obsessed daughter Bo). Regular channel watchers would also have seen her as in Zombieland as Little Rock, the younger con-artist sister. 🙂

Julian San

“I can feel my heartbeat in my fingertips.” - Addie Counts That was absolutely poetic.

Luis Fernandez

I would have appreciated a mid-credits scene where the invading general was called before "alien Congress" and had to explain the thinking behind having a species that cannot be touched by water invade a planet mostly covered by water. Then an end-credit scene showing a large group of aliens defeated by middle-schoolers with Super Soakers.

Jacob King

Shyamalan used to get compared to Alfred Hitchcock a lot and Hitchcock’s whole theory of movies was that they were emotion manipulation machines. Signs is a really great example of this approach. The bit with the video footage of the alien being juxtaposed against Mel going to see the alien trapped in the pantry is just brilliant. Also the ending is really hokey and contrived except he’s spent the whole story building you up to the emotional payoff of the father getting his faith back so you don’t even question it. I’d strongly recommend No One Will Save You (2023) which is a more contemporary take on the same genre.

Philip Davetas

Is this the movie about dumb bell aliens who hate water, but travel to a planet that's mostly water?

Byrd N. Hand

Not mention the fact that they'd also mastered interstellar travel, but struggled to open human-made doors... 🤷‍♂️

Byrd N. Hand

Indeed, the lack of 'karate hands' from her so far this October has been rather disappointing. 🙎‍♂️

Byrd N. Hand

I'm hoping Addie eventually reacts to "Little Miss Sunshine" (probably Breslin's most well-known role).

Byrd N. Hand

Dude, she made it through "Halloween" and "The Thing" last year, and "The Shining" (!) and "Alien" the year before. She just needs to stop psyching herself out so much before going into these movies. I swear, she's getting worse on that front instead of better. 🤔

Byrd N. Hand

Of course, Hitchcock knew enough to let other people handle the writing...

Doug

Sadly I haven’t seen that one yet. It’s got good reviews though. 🙂

LaserLamb

Not to be overly sexist or anything, but I got the feeling this was her "sensitive" week of the month. 👨🏻‍⚕️

LaserLamb

I think my favorite moment of the reaction was when Addie screamed "Oh, she's said douchebag SO MANY TIMES!!!" 🤣

Fawks

This script is beautiful. Some people hate the water thing saying why would they go to a planet comprised mostly of water but that's such a lame gripe. Earth could be the only planet they could reach with their technology. The actual script though, Gibson's character arc, the flashbacks, the way they're edited. It's beautiful. Probably much moreso on repeat viewings when you don't have to vogue as much. But man I love it. And yet Unbreakable is M. Night's best movie by far. Really hope you watch that one. A bit of a thriller but there are no jump scares like this one.

Jacob King

Yep. He understood that he’d get the credit anyway so why not work with the best people available.

jamesthevampyr

This is the preferred technique for keeping away scary aliens. https://imgur.com/a/Pn6BCtd

Randy

if Addie did a Tom Cruise Sci-Fi Run I'd be happy. Oblivion 2013

Miles E Coburn

It's also not an invading force; it's an expeditionary force, going around checking things out. They finally left because the world is more trouble than it was worth (in their eyes).

Byrd N. Hand

Of course, it's a bit of a catch-22, since the more freaked out a reactor is during these movies, the more entertaining it usually is for the viewer. 🤷‍♂️

They got to San Francisco and were like F this we're out.

TBH, I REALLY dislike this movie. Addie is great as always, but the movie is bad. A biological organism that is burned from water that uses a particulate gas as a weapon? Nope. A baseball player that swings to "hard" doesn't know what to do with a bat? A child with psychological issues, leaving full glasses of water around that's not being treated for that?.... Sorry. I can't suspend my disbelief for that much stuff.

Kevin C

Sucks for you. I hope sharing your negative opinion made you feel better though.
