Here's the full length reaction to Django Unchained! This has SUCH an incredible cast!! I loved Jamie Foxx and Christoph Waltz together in this. I thought Kill Bill was Tarantino's bloodiest movie but... it might actually be this one! Enjoy!

I'd say reserve your thoughts on this being Tarantino's bloodiest movie until you've also seen "The Hateful Eight." And I still maintain that Dr. Schultz is essentially the same character as Col. Landa from "Inglourious Basterds." The only difference is that the character is written as a villain in the latter, and written as an antihero in the former. Also, DiCaprio initially cut his hand when attempting to saw open Ben's skull, and Tarantino went with it for the rest of the scene... though, rest assured, that's not his actual blood being smeared on Kerry Washington's face.

Happy Wednesday, Addie. The bloodlust continues because I'm so glad that you enjoyed Django: Unchained (2012). This is one Quentin Tarantino movie that I must watch soon, although I've only seen the scene where Django whips the crap out of "Big" John Brittle and beats the crap out of Little Raj, which I found very satisfying. BTW, you've also seen Christoph Waltz in the Daniel Craig James Bond movies Spectre (2015) & No Time To Die (2021).

Happy Wednesday, Addie! 😊 This is a great movie with a great cast. Glad that you enjoyed it. I keep forgetting that this is a Tarantino film. LOL! For more Jamie Foxx I very highly recommend the 2013 movie "White House Down". For more Christoph Waltz I very highly recommend the 2011 movie "Water for Elephants". For more Leonardo DiCaprio I very highly recommend the 1993 "What's Eating Gilbert Grape". And for more Samuel L. Jackson I very highly recommend the 2017 "Kong: Skull Island". Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

I 100% second White House Down (2013). That's my all-time favorite Channing Tatum & Jamie Foxx movie. It's from the same director of Independence Day (1996) & The Patriot (2000), Roland Emmerich. #WhiteHouseDownForAddieCounts

Addie, check this out. So the whole scene with DiCaprio smashing his hand on the glass and bleeding was actually real. It was an accident and he was bleeding all over but he kept the scene going and they left it in the movie. The cast and crew all gave him a standing ovation after.

Also, let's be honest: Hildy's inability to stop ogling Django during the dinner scene is what caused Schultz and Django to be exposed in the first place. Some people have no sense of self-preservation. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Thank You!!! So much Addie this is a real treat to watch TYSM!!!

Don't forget Christoph Waltz is Austrian, thus, his last name is pronounced 'valtz,'

Only Tarantino movie I don't care for. Hope you watch Jackie Brown

Andre Agog

Franco Nero was a Mexican actor who played a character called Django in a number of classic spaghetti Westerns back in the day. He's the guy at the bar in the scene where we first meet Candy. The whole exchange he has at the bar is a classic Tarantino in-joke.

Mr. Writhms

Very true! Although the blood Dicaprio smeared all over Kerry Washington's face was not real. They had already cut the take (no pun intended) and replaced it with fake blood for continuity.

Ooo, I'm looking forward to this one!

Thats MR. Baldamort

oh yeah they had to cut and bandage him up, don't think that would of been the most sanitary, but props to editing for making it looks like a seamless transition.

I forgot that the Australian character who get blown up towards the end is actually Quentin Tarantino himself xD

Yay, this was a great watch along! When I look at the almost 3 hour playtime of this movie, I'm often just "urgg" in my head, and then I find very quickly, I can't look away from the screen. I think that is Tarantino's biggest asset: ratchet tension until it is way past uncomfortable, and dare viewers to look away, because if you look away for a millisecond, you might miss an important moment. It's good directing, all that said, I'm still not sure how to feel about him as a person. Kind of strikes me as a piece of shit. And I say that fully aware of Stanley Kubrick also being a piece of shit.

*Italian Also he’s married to Vanessa Redgrave who played Max in the first Mission Impossible.

A fun reaction. I don’t know if the happy ending was ever really in doubt. The big difference between Django and Kill Bill in terms of bloodiness is the blood in Django is so much gloopier. Kill Bill blood comes out like a hose this is more like chunky tomato soup. If you haven’t seen The Count of Monte Cristo it would be a good follow up. It’s the OG revenge story and a lot of its DNA wound up in Django

Doug

Great movie! Solid cast, terrific soundtrack, just really solid. 🙂 And on a tangent, this and the recent Mission Impossible movies made me realize Addie hasn't watched Collateral which is a really good thriller starring Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise. I highly recommend getting Collateral on a movie poll at some point, it would be a nice addition to the Cruise/Foxx collection! 😄

Tune in next year around this time, y'all, for another edition of 'Addie Watches Tarantino' -- most likely for "Reservoir Dogs" and/or "The Hateful Eight." 😉

I have a very diverse family, we all went to see Django in the theater... it was weird, we all cheered at different parts of the movie =(
