Happy Monday, Addie! I hope that you had a great weekend. 😊 I'm really excited for this one. Johnny Storm/The Human Torch is one of my favorite Chris Evans characters. I really enjoy this movie. And the cast is great! We even get a Stan Lee cameo. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. For more Jessica Alba, I highly recommend the 2007 movie "Awake". Have a great day today! 😊

Happy Monday, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Fantastic Four (2005) because this movie was a part of my childhood growing up. This was my introduction to Chris Evans as well. I used to have the Burger King kids meal toys for Susan Storm/Invisible Woman & Ben Grimm/The Thing. See you soon for Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). BTW, the logo on the thumbnail is for Fantastic Four (2015). This is the actual logo for this movie. https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/9bib9el9VOHDlwt0uXjgNqpyO2t.png And it's good to see you wear a sweater again, now that sweater weather is here.

Back in 2016, Jessica Alba and Kate Mara both appeared coincidentally on James Corden's couch. They both played Sue Storm in different films. When worlds collide... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vdjQTTYEops

This movie could have been better, but I still think it was really well done for its time. When Hollywood was still getting its feet wet on the more serious side of superhero movies.

Glad you watched this movie before Deadpool 3! So fun fact, the reason Chris Evens played both Captain America and Flaming Torch is this movie was made when Marvel was owned by Fox, at least the rights to these characters were. So much like Xmen it's important to look at this as a separate universe entirely. I think its a fun movie but at the time it did flop big time in the box office as they completely butchered Dr Dooms character. He's suppose to be one of the most Intelligent ruthless enemies in the entire marvel universe and they treated him like an one off annoyance here.

Yeah, that’s definitely the logo for the 2015 reboot. Usually I just facetiously accuse creators of intentionally making mistakes in order to force engagement but Addie doesn’t need to resort to manipulative tricks like that.

Homework for her big "Deadpool and Wolverine" reaction coming up (as "Blade" also was). I'm not pleased about it, either (especially given that she didn't give the same courtesy of watching the first 7 James Bond movies before "Austin Powers" 🤷‍♂️), but it *is* her channel, after all. Hopefully she uploads "Dead Reckoning" on Wednesday and then we can finally, *finally* move on to other stuff...

You are correct, it is the wrong logo! There's not a clear PNG file that I could find online for the 2005 movie, so I made it clear in the title and description which movie it is. There's no manipulation here? lol

Julian San

That’s right. Addie has a whole other set of manipulative tactics 🤣

We've never gotten a good Doom before, but otherwise this version is pretty accurate. It gets hate because it's from the camp era, but FF is typically camp to begin with.

I am looking forward to the BLADE reaction. I've been too busy to watch the full feature reaction. But I'm stoked for the YouTube edit.

Addie, this can help. https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/9bib9el9VOHDlwt0uXjgNqpyO2t.png

This movie is definitely better than the 28% rating it has on Rotten Tomatoes. It's not my favorite Marvel movie, but it's pretty fun overall, I'd probably give it 6 out of 10. 🙂 The main things bringing the score down for me would be that the plot feels a little weak. Also it feels like they messed up Doom as a character compared to the comics by having him gain cosmic powers, plus his motivations seemed a bit odd. On a more positive note I liked Chiklis as Ben and Chris Evans as Johnny, they're basically the reason to watch the film as far as I'm concerned. I'm a Jessica Alba fan from her TV shows Dollhouse and Dark Angel, and I thought she was ok here, but it also felt like she got a bit of a short end of the stick in terms of the script. This film also probably suffered at the box office since it came out the same time as Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins. Imagine, though, if this film had had a somewhat tighter script and didn't have that competition so the franchise could take off, I wonder who would have played Captain America then? 😄

Spider-Man (2002-2007) and Fantastic Four were my first few Marvel movies when i was a kid. I'm glad you liked this. i'm looking forward to see your reaction to Part 2.

I agree, I mean of all the super hero movies out there, MCU and hell there are even some X men movies FAR worse than this.

Ioan Gruffudd will always be Horatio Hornblower to me. ;)

And I always loved the nod to this movie in the How it Should Have Ended video about the Endgame trailer. After Scott Lang shows up at the gate at the Avengers Compound, a series of other characters show up that are also Marvel/Disney properties(mostly new ones that had just been acquired from the Fox merger). Several X-Men start it off, then it's the Fantastic ... Three (no Johnny Storm). Nat asks if they lost someone in the snap, and Reed replies ".... kind of?" (IOW, they lost Chris Evans to the MCU - lol)

Re: Invisibility and force-field powers here and in "The Incredibles", part of it is that "The Incredibles" is a direct homage to the Fantastic Four comics. Their powers are all very similar, if not identical: Elastigirl stretches like Mr. Fantastic, Violet has the noted invisibility and force-fields, Jack-Jack has a whole PLETHORA of powers like Franklin Richards (Sue and Reed's son, who was not included in this movie), and Mr. Incredible is a hulking strongman like The Thing. Dash's speed is the only one that doesn't really match to The Human Torch, but I suppose if they were all identical it would have been too blatant. The Underminder, the villain that pops up at the very end of the film, is based on the Mole Man, a FF villain and the FIRST villain they faced. Even the idea of them being a family is adapted from the FF comics, where they were the very first superhero family and are still one of the more prominent ones. It's a very common joke to describe "The Incredibles" as the best adaptation of the Fantastic Four that we've gotten so far.
