I have to say I prefer the original, and I think it is that yellow. You wouldn't notice either of the remake ones as you pull into a tube station but that yellow would draw your eye. Reminds me a little of the classic 'Bride of Frankenstein' where the artist painted The Bride with the bright red hair of Elsa Lanchester rather than the black she has in the film. But it stands out.

I think the posters for the 1956 and 1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers are both highly effective. The first, with its individuality-defining handprint (and again, that yellow), and the second with its duplicated image of a running group, connected by tendrils. My one quip with the latter is the undersold tagline "The seed is planted, the terror grows" that is subordinate to the less enticing "From deep space..." I suppose that following Star Wars, it was a selling point?

I'd offer up the 1949 Mighty Joe Young vs the 1998 Disney remake. The 1949 ones play off on a min-King concept. Holding the beautiful dame in one hand, fighting off a pack of lions (all male...) with the other. It's saying that this is a rip roaring action flick, come on in! The Disney one is all about pathos and the poor gorilla in a world not his own. Especially the poster which is all gorilla face with a tiny woman's hand reaching up from the lower left corner. A weepie, Two totally different takes on the same basic story.

It also is controlled chaos, in that all the frantic images focus your eye rather than confuse it.
