Howdy folks,

In November, just prior to the 60th Anniversary Specials hitting our screens, Billy chanced his arm and got in touch with the Wellington tourist board to see if they'd let one-half of RoD run amok in Tākina, Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre. Unbelievably, they said yes.

Doctor Who Worlds of Wonder: Where Science Meets Fiction (or, in Te Rao Māori; Doctor Who Ngā Ao Mīharo: Te tūtakitanga o te Pūtaiao ki te Pakimaero) was a fixture of the World Musuem in Liverpool and the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh from 2022 to 2023. Now, the Doctor has VWORPED their Little Blue Box to Aotearoa's captial city, Wellington.

This is an unprecedented experience for fans on this side of the planet. In fact, the only non-UK exhibitions we could find evidence of was a collection of props and costumes displayed in Sydney back in 2013 and the mid-80s Doctor Who USA Tour - a museum housed inside a 50ft trailer which was later discovered in a sorry state on the side of the road back in Blighty (depressing pictures courtesy of richardwho).

But this is a much more convincing affair. Produced by Sarner International (responsible for the beloved Doctor Who Experience in London and Cardiff), Doctor Who: Worlds of Wonder promises to give fans "the opportunity to come face to face with the show’s iconic characters, share the Doctor’s adventures and explore some of the worlds visited on screen".

"It is great to see the continued success of Tākina, and to build our exhibition programme offering for our residents and visitors to the city." - Tory Whanau, Wellington Mayor

Billy has bagged an invite to the media preview event where the exhibition will open its doors for the press and a VIP launch party later that same day.

Now, to take a quick side step, none of this would have been possible without you guys supporting us here on Patreon, in the comments on the YouTube videos, with your cracking patter in Discord and your continued passion for what we do as RoD. So thanks for helping us get our foot in the door at events like this. It's a really positive step towards securing more access to happenings and soirees which we can cover in our uniquely...unique way.

Anyway, back to business: what do you want to see from our coverage of Doctor Who: Worlds of Wonder? Is there a particular prop you want to get an update on the condition of? Do you want an up-close and personal leer at some of the latest editions to the Monster Vault which may not have appeared on public display in the UK yet? Do you want Billy to ask the Mayor of Wellington whether Kiv would beat Sil in a fight to the death?

Let us know and we'll make it so.

Our coverage will begin on 29 May on Instagram and Twitter, with a Patreon-exclusive video in the first week of June and a short report on the regular show around the same time.

Mā te wā,

- RoD 💜💚

RoD on Location! Been wanting a video like this for yonks. I went to the one in Scotland. It was so cool. I can’t describe the feeling of standing in front of the terrors of my childhood. The K-1 specifically stood out to me.
