The Soviet Union didn't quickly progress from Brezhnev to Gorbachev. Leonid Brezhnev died in November of 1982, and was succeeded by Yuri Andropov, who only lasted a little over a year. Then came Konstantin Chernenko who similarly lasted only thirteen months. Mikhail Gorbachev then became General Secretary in 1985, later to become Chairman of the Supreme Soviet in 1989. The Berlin Wall fell in November of 1989, with Gorbachev becoming President in 1990.

Weird Magic

Frank Langella as Gabriel gets his first on screen time in this one, he was mentioned (I believe) in the Pilot episode when we met Granny, his replacement (which also means, he left and came back for some reason). It is also the first time that the actors playing Oleg and Gaad are listed in the main credits. As of today Frank is alive and kicking, age 86, his list of accomplishments include dating both Elizabeth Taylor and Whoopi Goldberg :) (per wikipedia, not personal knowledge) Originally airing on January 28, 2015, 'EST Men' is Episode 1 of Season 3 of The Americans. It is the 27th episode overall and has an IMDB rating of 8.1, placing it as the #7 ranked episode of this season and #11 out of all the episodes shown so far.
