I think the reason some people bounce off S2 is all about the Jared / Larrick showdown. And while it is indeed weak for all the reasons you guys stated, you're also correct about the strength of the rest of the season, not least the the scenes immediately afterwards. I'll push back slightly, non-spoilery, in a good way. S2 doesn't set up later seasons any more than S1 set up S2. There are certainly continuing arcs, and the ever-building dynamics of the Jennings household. I'll think you'll be very impressed with what's to come.

Agreed - the awards and recognition (although not to the level of major shows like West Wing, Mad Men, Breaking Bad et al) do start to come with more frequency beginning with Season 3
