I think the main difference between Nathaniel and Greg is that Rebecca did not get a super satisfying closure with Greg since Greg was the one who decided to move on, not Rebecca. She did say goodbye to the ghost of Greg but that is not the same thing. In contrary, she has rejected Nathaniel voluntarily at least three times in the show and for reasons that seem to align with the mental journey she is having. Obviously, at this point, Nathaniel has changed quite a lot but perhaps not enough to seem like a whole new person (as Greg does). It is also a bit unclear imo what Nathaniel is looking for in Rebecca. Is he truly interested, or is he looking for same type of healing and closure in Rebecca as Rebecca was looking for in Josh?

I must also add that the love, ehrm, quadrangle? gets a bit messy in S4, and you don't know which man to root for or if you should root for anyone. But it also makes the show quite special in my eyes. It is pretty typical for many romantic and comedic shows to paint certain men as desirable and heroic and other men as losers but in CXG, almost every man in West Covina can be both super attractive and super annoying, sometimes even at the same time.
