Wealthy people do not experience life the same way as the rest of us.

I've been watching your reactions to "The West Wing" because it's my favorite show ever, and I love your observations and analyses, but I've avoided starting "Succession" because, like Kevin, I didn't want to watch a bunch of truly despicable people doing awful things. But I see that you guys have stayed with this show, and I was able to enjoy and appreciate this first episode without falling into the depths of existential despair. It really helps watching it along with you, so it's on my list now. Just a personal story that this episode reminded me of: years ago, I lived on Oahu and worked at a restaurant in Waikiki, and every day I would walk by a luxury watch shop which was marketed to the wealthy tourists. There was a beautiful Patek Philippe watch on display in the window, and finally one day on a whim I went inside to ask the price. "You're in luck," the man told me. "That one's on sale. The price has been dropped to $48,000." The rich do, indeed, live a very different existence than the rest of us.

Wow. They just have their own reality. It is quite sad. It's a great show! It creates a lot of empathy with these characters but that doesn't stop us from judging them morally.

you both seem to from the start understand the show really well! one of you said " this is not being a killer" and this such an important line for ken in the show. and yes, logan especially is based off on rupert murdoch! but at this point the roys are their own things
