Aoife Hinds who plays Mae is the daughter of the great Irish actor Ciaran Hinds.

I'm not sure what previous work the writer, Lisa McGee, has done but I know that she's working on a new Netflix show called 'How to get to Heaven from Belfast' which is scheduled to be filmed later this year

Donegal is only an hour's drive away, in the Republic. :D

i work in chinatown and have a couple family members who speak mandarin - so i'm used to hearing chinese spoken, though i don't understand most of it and can't discern well what's cantonese versus mandarin. i recognized a few words from what clare said, and my sense was that she's supposed to be someone who has learned words and phrases that she is using correctly but with poor pronunciation and accent. (reddit discussion suggests that sense is fairly accurate, fwiw.) on the subject of the cantonese in wayne's world: https://youtu.be/YyNT-_BviKM?si=iBhkyZHEiWJDAjcD her videos breaking down/critiquing the chinese spoken in american shows and movies are good.

Thank you for sharing that video! It is strange that they chose (randomly it seems) to make Tia Carrere and James Hong both Cantonese when neither actor appears to be. Not surprised that Rob Lowe took the language accuracy more seriously than Mike Myers did.

I love how Sr Michael makes it sound like it’s so far away.
