hi! just some thoughts about the temper tantrum on stage- i totally agree that it's hard to watch and childish as hell of her, definitely plays into her family's whole M.O. with how they handle any slights. however, she has no idea the stakes with the mob guys. she's never around when they're threatening susie so while midge is apprehensive about them, she has no way of knowing exactly how dangerous and icky they get behind closed doors because of how privileged and sheltered she is. also, it's joel's line that really gets me, "why is she giving up on stage- she never gives up". it's not just that she had a bad day at work, it's the culmination of months of work on the show with the hope to one day get on it, putting a lot of her standup career on hold, because she trusted susie that this was the big break. so all of that is crashing down because he's saying it's not a no today, it's a permanent no. all that to say i still agree that it's a couple damn shows, it's not that hard, just suck it up, but at the same time (with the benefit of hindsight) i think it's a wakeup call for midge, susie, and joel that these guys are not goofy and fun, and if it wasn't this favor, it would've been some other humiliating thing down the line

You do have a point. Of course it's been building up, I just don't think either one of us can condone or tolerate an adult having that kind of behavior. However, we shouldn't be judged by our worst moments. That's not what defines us as people.
