ive heard that yes, being a teacher in Korea is somewhat prestigious, but its not an easy job. recently korean teachers were protesting because they're often harassed (or even abused) by the parents and sometimes even students. they feel like the law is not protecting them because there's a sentiment that "the parent is always right, the student cant be wrong, if the student misbehaves youre a shitty teacher"

The theories you guys come up with adds so much fun in rewatching this series..!! Couple of things to clarify -In the tub scene Steph mentioned Jaejun as a drug dealer which he is not he just owns a boutique and a golf club, Sa-ra is the only one who consumes drugs in that gang & Myeong-oh supplies it to her. -In the same tub scene Jaejun gets angry with the redhead and says he hates Anne of green gables & Little red riding hood because both the characters are redheads and the reason is that he has red/green colourblindness(Dichromatism) to people with this condition what is red, green or colours that have a mix of red or green in them appear to be shades of yellow and blue and yeah he is super sensitive about it. You guys are doing great in noticing a lot of stuffs and thanks for the reaction guys!

lol thank you steph for saying you like the show bc i fought for you 😭😭 so many people kept saying you couldn’t take it but i knew the truth !!! (tbh there’s only a few kdramas I’ve watched and liked so that was the main reason I wanted this show to win but I also knew it would be interesting for others as well)

I feel like Dongeun told him either let your dad who life is over either way die or lose everything you and your dad worked for and to build up in life so he chose to just get rid of his dad to protect the rest of his family and protect his dads image of being a good teacher

Re: Wes' question about Dong Un's Go plot, if you would remember the library scene in Ep 2 where the husband was reading a book about Go and Dong Un was on the other side of the shelves, means she's been following him since college so I believe purposely learning Go was part of the plan.

Gods, I want so badly to say so much but I can't cuz of spoilers~~~ lol

Not sure if it was mentioned but young Dong Eun is also the daughter of the rich family in Parasite. Completely opposite lives but she played both roles wonderfully

young Yeon-jin cant go to the police, what would she say with out any proof just making a complaint to the police could result in her been sued for defermation which is treated very very seriously in Korea to such a extent that if someone was having a secret affair and u revealed that info which then caused that person to lose respect in the community u could be sued for it even though its the truth, in korea truth is no defence in a defermation case, she can not also leave the country how could she explain that to her husband, if he found out what had occured he might divorce her and take custody of her child however i cant see why she cant move her child to another school. also defamation is a criminal offence unlike US where its civil, if u are found guilty u can and people do go to prison for it, its a serious thing u cant just make allergtions against people

Lela

Your theories make rewatching this show soo much more fun :) and you learned their names so fast!

Lela

I ship Dong eun and Do yeong lol

nylecoj

This recently became a huge national talking point after a teacher killed themselves over it. There's new legislation coming to limit parental powers after a lot of protests. But yes, you can become rich as a teacher, there are a lot of celebrity teachers that do online tutoring or YT that are millionaires.

Somnia

I was shocked the teacher killed his dad too, but I almost think Dong-Eun implied the teacher did more than just beat her. The way she phrased it as how he was an adult and she was just and 18 year old girl. The guy didn't seem like a bad person, so if he was led to believe his dad was more of a monster than he actually was, that might just have been enough to justify it to himself.
