The mecha is actually a visual reference not to Gundam, but to Evangelion, another famous mecha anime. It's as culturally iconic as Gundam, but while Gundam is that cool action show about giant robots fighting each other, Evangelion is more like an introvert auteur's manifesto about social anxiety and depression that still get people to write pages of philosophical essays about it on the Internet. It's been recorded that the respective authors of My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen have watched an Evangelion movie together, so I personally believe there is a high chance that the character of Okkotsu Yûta is a direct inspiration from Shinji Ikari, the main character of Evangelion. They have the exact same personality and aspirations in life, their designs and clothes may be seen as similar, and they both have the same voice actor. I often like to tell myself that Yûta is just Shinji from another dimension, because they'e literally the same character to me. Also Pacific Rim was massively inspired by Evangelion too. If you disregard the mechas and monsters designs, it's almost the exact same story. I'm surprised Japan never tried to sue America for Pacific Rim.

One of the information shared by Mechamaru was the place of the previous season's exchange event. If you remember, while the students were fighting trying to kill Itadori, Mahito and his team lifted a veil to keep Gojo outside and created a diversion to steal 6 Sukuna fingers and 3 death-painting wombs from the school. Those death-painting wombs were used to create the 3 cursed brothers that we saw in last season, with only one remaining alive now. So it means while Mechamaru was fighting Panda, he was already working as a mole.
