The whole "if we change this world at all, it will erase us" thing is just a theory that Nanahoshi has based on reading sci-fi. It's not something she truly knows about one way or another.

Congrats on the baby! Also hype for Mushoku being back obv lol

Just a slight detail regarding the uniforms and character designs in this show. The show started off as a web novel, the original author didnt design any character visually (it was purely text based). It was only after the publication of the light novel was there a design for all the characters (approved by the original author) and from there, the anime design. So the author technically didnt justify the design of the uniform, the design came from the description from the original novel

I'm fairly sure they mentioned in episode 0 that sylphies parents died post teleportation. towards the end if memory serves.

We so back! And congratulations on the baby!

Don't forget, in the first episode the cop said "Two teenager are missing" which means 1 of the 2 people she's looking for was left behind. Which means 3 people were summoned. And rudy got in the way and became the third, but he died during summoning.

Really liked your reactions, but Nanahoshi is one of my fav characters. I don't think there is any spoilers ahead, but this is a long character analysis, because I think the novel and the show captured these characters absolutely perfectly here in all the minute details. Nanahoshi literally means Seven Stars in Japanese. And it is a very distinctly, recognizable Japanese female name. So when Rudy heard Nanahoshi when they encountered Orsted. And even when Rudy soon realized the uniform, the blackboard and all these things in the University is similar to Japan. And there is a "Silent Seven Star", he already figured it out. But he really does not want anything to do with the old world. So he intentionally avoided meeting Nanahoshi. This is only hinted at by his prolonged silence before finally deciding to meet her after Sylphie mentions her. And the close-up to Rudy's face when he said "I have no regrets (in the old world)" That felt so gut wrenching, because he should be full of regrets! He is in full denial mode right there. Also, I think you guys missed it in season 1. He did have siblings, those who came to his room, smashed his computer and kicked him out, were his siblings! Because they came back from their parents' funeral, found their shut-in brother fapping. It was never really explained, but many people speculate that Rudy's parents suicided. How else would both of them die together? Accident? Maybe, but then Rudy probably would know. I think deep down why his siblings were so angry and hell bent on kicking him out, and why Rudy never thinks about them, even after he came to this world and changed for the better. That is one thing he could not face, not yet at least. The closer and warmer he got to Paul and Zenith in this world, the more bizzare his lack of relation with his old parents becomes, especially they fed him and kept him alive till his 30s! Yes, they enabled him, they were not the best parents, but no doubt they also loved him. Now back to Nanahoshi, from her perspective, she was about to be hit by a truck, then all of a sudden, got isekaied to another world. The mana disaster has nuked her immediate surrounding. She is only high school age, and has absolutely nothing around her. Then Orsted found her, not sure how long after. And though like Rudy, she probably does not fear Orsted supernaturally, but Orsted is hardly someone that you can feel comfortable with, especially in this situation. Then, she has to get used to the killing and bloodshed traveling with Orsted, while learning the language of this world. However, she is also fiercely intelligent, she pieced so many things together, and it does make sense that someone powerful and knowledgeble enough to figure out what the teleportation incident's nature was, or how to use the teleportation circles, don't want those secrets and their identity revealed, because think of the possible military use of these things? That's painting a target on your back. So I think it makes perfect sense that Nanahoshi did had help from someone, and they didn't want her to tell anyone about it. In this episode, Nanahoshi is like two different person with the mask on and off. It is a defense mechanism for her, one, in a world of basically either all white people or non-humans, she is distinctly East Asian, the only person with black hair and brown eyes in the world. So yeah, mask it is. It is also to hide the fact that she doesn't age. But once she confirmed her suspision that Rudy is also Japanese, she knew she can let her guard down, and immediately return to the high school girl that she is. But once finding out Rudy may not be her natural ally, her mask, her guard and her self defense all went up again. I don't think she intentionally wanted to trigger Sylphie, but she put on the rings because she knows how problematic that incident was, she has to be prepared. Also, it is the subtitle's fault. The original Japanese line reads more like: " I might have been the cause of it." AND NOT "I might have caused it" Very important distinction there. So she wasn't really being careless with her words there. It's just that Sylphie lacked context and presumably her mom and dad died, so yeah, she freaked out. On the other hand, Rudy is clueless in this episode. Well, he has a lot on his plate in this episode. But 2 clear signs that gave away Sylphie's real identity are both missed by Rudy. 1. "Fitz" questioned how Rudy and Nanahoshi could be from the same hometown, how would Fitz know? It must mean Fitz knows about Rudy from a young age, at least knowing where he is from. 2. Fitz's outburst seems unwarranted, as far as Rudy knows, Fitz is bodyguard the Princess Ariel, not someone from Fitoa, aka the victim of the teleportation incident. So if he is not so shocked by Nanahoshi's scenario, he probably could connect the dots and realize that this "Fitz" must be from Fitoa, and must know Rudy from very young. Plus the elf ears, he should figure it out. Also, Rudy recognized Nanahoshi from the same accident but withheld the info that he was the fat guy who pushed them away and died for it. He was intentionally vague about how he came, careful not to reveal that.

CONGRATS ON THE BUNDLE OF JOY!!

Also it's super convenient to justify her lack of desire to advance the local tech level.

Arielle said she can no longer afford to actively search for them, not that they're dead. So at that point they were still listed as missing.

Aphelion Audio

when she said she didnt want to put her knowledge to use here, she was referring to a common isekai trope where the main character uses their knowledge from earth to modernize the world and profit off of technology to live a comfortable life. she has a life she wants to go back to, family and friends that love her, and things she wants to do in her old world, so she finds rudeus's lack of desire to go back strange

Aphelion Audio

oh and them speaking japanese was distressing to sylphy because when she asked why they were speaking a strange language, nanahoshi replied that they came from the same place, as in their homeland was the same, but sylphy knows she grew up with rudeus so that shouldnt be possible

Wow I’m impressed after all this time of having finished reading it, not once did it occur to me that if she were successful with summoning someone here or summoning herself back, or even if when her friend gets summoned in the future that another teleportation disaster could occur. Food for thought here
