Oh ya, bullying in Japan is heinous and extreme. They'll put tacks or glass in shoes, there's a case where a girl was drowned in the pool by a bunch of girls, there's a case where some upperclassmen were bullying a much younger kid so bad they killed him, so they put him in the trunk of a car until after school and forgot about him. Then there's the case of Junko Furuta which was so tragic it left a major impression on many people in Japan, and many outside of it including myself. They will cut someone's face or hair, publicly humiliate, I've heard of some kids being hanged. My friend who is a bit of an outcast said he was ostracized, especially after leaning into the delinquent look. But before he looked like he would kill someone, he would be beaten pretty bad. Even as an adult, because of the way he looks, he is harassed and treated horribly, especially by women because of his career and lifestyle. He told me about a time that he was riding the train, there were a group of high school kids who were talking about him like he was a criminal loudly so that he could hear, saying people like him should be locked up or thrown out of Japan, that he was a nuisance to society for people to even look at him, that they didn't feel safe with him on the train. They made such a fuss that people actually started giving him a wide birth on the packed train and someone suggested to him to get off at the next stop. All that because he has tattoos, dark skin, and dyed hair with piercings. Oh and they called him a gorilla (but he LOVES gorillas so he takes it as a compliment) Japan is low on crimes but the crimes that do happen, put America's reputation to shame honestly. There is just something extra vile about the bad people there. What I find interesting though is that a lot of criminals there are quite ordinary. The ones that struggle with mental health do not harm people and then you got the popular girls or jocks acting like terrorists. Even the yakuza are kinder than teens there. 😅 Naru, my friend, was saved by a Yakuza member when he was a kid.

the case of Junko Furuta is the worst true crime case I have ever heard of... truly despicable

100% vile. It's actually one of the many cases that fortified my belief that humans aren't born good and that we can't treat kids or teens like they're innocents who can do no wrong. Those teenage boys committed a crime that most killers wouldn't even do and the fact they were let off so freaking easy because they were kids is horrifying. They could be walking the streets of Japan right now, doing gods know what and nobody knows their identities because of the law that underage criminals don't get revealed to the public. Smh
