First; the sweetheart in love with Areum, he's in the hospital for being an alcoholic and I think it was implied somewhere that he had anger issues when drunk. So essentially, he's the antithesis of her ex. He obviously never actually tried to change whereas this dude is actually trying to be a better person and you'll see that soon where he chooses to take his healing seriously so he can be the right person for her and not a replica of her past mistake. I think the Beauty and the Beast reference is because of those two since that's the objective of the story, that beast chooses to become better for Belle. The thing about Mun-yeongs argument is that while true for the most part that you can't change someone with love, in the original story, Beast was never that bad. Yes, he was selfish and solemn so he was cursed for it, but the initial story was about not judging someone based on appearances, not about changing someone with love. Disney ruined that element of the story and taught a very dangerous lesson. But I also love beauty and the Beast the most because Beast is misunderstood and characterized a certain way for just being royalty and later as a monster. But he was completely fair through the original story. They took advantage of his kindness and stole from him then used his feelings to manipulate him and Belle almost kills him with her selfishness near the end. It's actually an amazing commentary on forgiveness and looking past appearances or prejudice. The other thing to note that may be applied to Disney's version as well is that it isn't Belles love that teaches beast to be kind. It's a lesson he learned from the curse but he then believes he's a ugly monster and that he will die because nobody loves him, so he chooses to be a kinder person and sacrifice himself for Belles selfishness out of love for her. It isn't that she fixed him, but that he learned what love means and CHOSE to be better for himself and for Belle and a but to repent his wrongdoings from his life as a human. He truly felt bad for cursing his subjects Secondly; I love you two so much~ I really appreciated your pie analogy. I struggle with my parents because me and my dad have a horrible relationship. To me he's a mere sperm donor because he's toxic and abusive and makes mine and my mom's life a living hell. He's also extremely jealous of me and my mom spending time together. I also get upset at my mom when she puts his matters over me all the time, like she'll cancel plans or have to ask his permission to spend time with me, ect. So I feel bad that my mom is stuck in the middle and I try hard not to get too upset or jealous when she puts him over me. My thinking can sometimes be like "how can you put this piece of shit over your child? If you love him that much, you can't possibly care about me because of what he puts me through" but I know it's not fair so anytime I can be reminded that she can love us both and just not know how to manage our time, I really appreciate it.

Hi guys seeing as you guys are about halfway through this show I feel like its okay to recommend a new one. The show reply 1988 is right down you guys alley since it seems like both of you guys are interested in Korean culture and what the country does different in compared to the US. But yeah its a show set in a small town in Korea in 1988. Its just a suggestion 💜 Love your guys reactions!!!
