I’m pretty sure Rem is a girl Shinigami. I think she cares about Misa simply because of Gelus’ sacrifice. They might have been friends.

Good theory on the exorcism idea, but shinigami are actually technically holy beings. Their job is to move souls like the grim reaper, so they're a necessary part of the circle of life and can't be exorcised.

How did L suspect Misa? Last episode, L told someone to tail Light. Also L had deduced in front of Light that the 2 Kira’s had joined forces but were pretending they hadn’t. Assuming that Light is Kira, and he’s recently allied with the new Kira, anyone newly introduced into Light’s life would be someone to look further into, and crossed referenced with the physical evidence from the tapes. There was also a scene when the person tailing Light was surprised after finding out Light had 2 girlfriends.

With her hair being there would be such flimsy evidence it would be thrown out of court so fast you drop god knows how much hair and her being famous there is probably some creep out there with hair or something like that in a collection when it comes to court it runs on the amount of evidence it's why you build up to beyond reasonable doubt on the torture side rules might be loosened because of the general situation she would by our current definitions be counted as a terrorist and they are already bending rules such as fake police badges keeping the rest of the police out of the loop about the investigation ect
