he was asking less for their opinions on marriage and more because he isnt sure how the custom works in this world, if he bought a ring got down on one knee and proposed to sylphy for all he knew he could be the first person to ever do that in this world. also: the Millis faith is basically catholicism, so they believe in most of the traditions tied to that, whereas any other faith generally doesnt, and i believe millicism is the only faith that practices monogamy as a rule (which was why paul cheating both was and wasnt a big deal to his family: zenith was a follower of millis, paul wasnt, and neither was lillia, which is why no one questioned the eventually polyamory that came from the situation)

oh and rudeus is loaded btw, the entire time coming home they never spent more money than they had to, and during his time in the north as quagmire he also never spent more money than needed, ruijerd left him with all of dead ends money, and he made a ton as quagmire, so he is QUITE wealthy by this point in the story, i believe around this time in the novels he does the math and realizes that even after the house, if he lived modestly, he likely wouldnt ever need to get a job

another note: rudy is ALWAYS using his eye, he constantly keeps it seeing about a second into the future. You can channel more mana into it see farther, but the farther you see, the less specific the future gets

rudy, cliff, and zanoba are all close friends by this point in the story, a lot of that character development wasnt included in the anime, though, but thats why they were ok with going with rudy to the haunted house: it meant a lot to him and they were his best friends, so of course they would

the reason zanoba has a club is that rudy made it for him with his magic as they approached the house, because he felt bad he didnt have a weapon because no weapon would be strong enough to withstand the force hed attack with so he made him a really heavy and dense club from his earth magic so it didnt matter if it broke

and you were right about that pedestal being a charger, for whatever reason they dont mention it in that scene like they do in the novels, but the doll cant remain active for very long so it has to return their and be recharged with mana from the pedestal

steph, im pretty sure i know the spoiler youre talking about, and i got that spoiler too before getting to it, but trust me, just kinda ignore it because it doesnt mean what you think it does. I cant go into it any more than that without the warning itself becoming a spoiler, but if youre talking about what i think you are its probably NOT what YOU think it is, so you should just try to ignore it

and just another thing: people are adults at 15 in this world, i know its weird, but its better for your enjoyment of the story to just think of them as adults at this point. much like in real life medieval society, people get married and have kids MUCH sooner, and on top of that it was just a way to get him to adulthood faster than waiting 18 years storywise since he starts as a baby. oh and in terms of babies, sylphy mentions it in the novels but it wasnt mentioned in the anime, she also said she felt bad that it might be really hard for her to give rudy a child because she was half elf the rate of successfully getting pregnant is very low between humans and elves

also i hope yall dont mind my constant clarifications: i think the anime does an amazing job adapting the novels, but the novels are simply so dense that they cant fit a lot of detail, so i think its worth mentioning the stuff thats skipped over, or only alluded to so that certain decisions make more sense to yall, because a lot of the broader world lore just isnt mentioned like it is in the novels

I’m glad, because I’m sure to continue writing them for the people interested lol. I also wholeheartedly recommend the novels to anyone who likes the show and likes to read, there is like a novel and a half missing from their journey on the demon continent and quite a lot skipped over for every plot line. The novels are just SO good, even if Rudy is generally a worse person in the novels, they really toned down his shiftiness for the anime

SPOILER-ISH COMMENT AHEAD I DONT MENTION ANYTHING SPECIFIC BUT IF YOU HAVENT READ THE NOVELS ITS BEST NOT TO READ IT Turning point 3 will go crazy, im really interested in how they’ll animate it, as it’s one of the more gorey and brutal parts of the novels. They haven’t really shied away from implying more brutal things but they’ve yet to show it much, well, they don’t linger on it, it’s usually just a couple frames of someone decapitated or something but in the novels it really lingers on the description and there’s even a brutal illustration to go along with it, so I’m curious

Doesn't matter if you read the source material or not. They both catch on fast (especially steph lol) and would of been spoiled by the Opening itself. Other reactors admit by being spoiled while watching this opening. I want them both to be surprised as they watch this series. We all do lol.
