Silly trivia about this one. Long ago and far away, I owned Doctor Who: A Celebration; a book which described the classic episodes. There are only two lines from that book (written by a UK author) which stayed with me, and one of them was the opinion of this episode: "It was not good. It was bad and it was ugly." For what it's worth, teenage-me (late 80's) had the impression that fans at that time felt this was the worst episode of dr who, period. =) Interesting to see opinion change over time.
