I understand where you're coming from, but you are *way* more generous towards Xander than I think he deserves! Fair enough, considering his family background, maybe he would freak out like that and perhaps you can forgive it in that context (just... maybe...), but at the very least he could have owned it: he could have let Anya be alone, walked up the front, and sent people home himself rather than letting Anya do so in floods of tears as the jilted partner. Or he could have gone through with it, given Anya the wedding day she wanted, and then had proper conversations with her and therapy afterwards, perhaps followed by an annulment. Best of all of course he should have thought about all this earlier, but hey. There are honestly very few ways he could have handled that worse than he did.

Giving her the wedding day she wanted as a gesture his heart wasn’t in would’ve been the cruelest thing possible, surely? He could’ve handled it better but his literal worst fear (being abusive like his dad - a fear than reveals the depth of his family trauma) was exploited, until then he was going through with it despite his reservations. Finally Anya is far from blameless here either - the wedding was literally unraveled by one of her victims.

I believe that Oz was her fist love... but she didn't even know about her own sexuality, it was 2000's tho. As many people find out later, and many consider themselves bisexual and some do not. I think she thought she loved him in a romantic way, and maybe she did, but since she started going out with him to forget about her crush with Xander... it was kinda weird. I think that after she realized who she truly was, it doesn't mean he wasn't worth anything. But as a lesbian, I understand her because I lived the same. Being a lesbian since 2006, when it was 'weird' and not normal as it is now. Sometimes you maintain a relationship, because everything around you tells you that it is normal. And then you realize that it's not. It did matter, for her. Not for him.

For sure but as a pansexual I find it insulting that they just minimize her beautiful relationship with Oz because "she's now a lesbian". Its like for us (pans/bi) when we happen to be in a heterosexual relationship we get invalidated as pans/bi. and We're in a homosexual relationship also get invalidated as gays. Its just not fair xD we like both and everything in between
