Hi folks!

A couple things. This is an important announcement that affects how you get charged via Patreon so please don’t skip over it.

First off:

Patreon has invited us to their beta program where pledges get charged immediately after pledging rather than at the end of the month. Frankly I’m not sure why it wasn’t this way from the beginning. The bulk charge at the end of the month left creators vulnerable to people who would lower their pledge or just simply dropout at the end of the month, only to re-pledge or raise it back to a higher amount after the charge sweep has occurred. This tactic called “pledge jumping” was pretty obvious to me from the very beginning so I wasn’t surprised at all when it happened and it unfortunately happens pretty regularly.

But I want to make one thing clear. We are not opting in on this charging method because we’ve been having any sort of severe problem. This isn’t like a “hey-you-guys-keep-stealing-our-games-so-we’re-going-to-have-to-DRM-it” kind of punishment thing, not by a long shot. People want to peek in sometimes after they’ve pledged for a while and I totally understand that. We at AiD generally turned a blind eye to it with a chuckle and a sigh (but you can see how this isn't really fair to the people who are genuinely staying here for the beginning till end). We’ve been blessed with honest Patrons and we are very grateful for that. No, we’re implementing this change because… well, this is how it should have been to begin with, really. Patreon shouldn’t have burdened their creators to monitor pledge jumpers. It’s just another thing to worry about in the list of things that shouldn’t be a priority to the creator. In all honesty though, 99.9% of you won’t even notice this change, since if you’ve been here a while, you’ll just get charged at the end of the moth as usual. We could have just went ahead and opted in on the program without notifying you guys (and you probably wouldn't have noticed it) but I'm trying to keep our Patreon frank, down to Earth, and honest on all accounts. Hence why we decided to wait for this change till a fresh new month has arrived so it won't come as a shock to anyone. So starting from *June, once you pledge, you get charged immediately. Please be advised.

If anyone has a logical reason to oppose this move I’m all ears.. but chances are we're not gonna change our stance. I'd love to hear your opinion though if you do have one.

Second, we heard ya about the vote on shirts.

At this rate it seems like we’re gonna be making shirts for sure so we’ll make a few designs that you all can vote on as well. Very surprised theres a huge drinking glass request.

Anyways, thank you all for your time and I’ll see you in the post which will be in like 10 minutes.

*Oops sorry! I made a mistake and wrote July instead of June! Correct month is June!

I've always wondered why Patreon didn't charge up front. I've seen other creator's pledges drop substantially on the last day of the month, only to pick right back up after the charges sweep through. I've not seen that for you guys though, which I guess goes to show the integrity of the AiD fanbase, and I'm happy that it's been like that. we support you, and we're damn proud of it!

I thought the same way like you can totally rip off somebody by changing pledges at the end of the month. I myself would not do that because It is a slap in the face to a creator.

Thanks for your loyalty! But that's usually because Patreon doesn't count charges that hasn't gone through. When credit cards get declined or take a while for the payment to process at the end of the month, the publicly shown pledge amount drops to align it with what the creator is "probably going to receive if the cards don't go through". This usually takes 4~5 days to clear hence why it shoots back up after the first week or so. Most of the time it's not foul play. It happens to us too sometimes. The pledge amount drops drastically for a day or two. Never the less though, we have very good moral patrons, theres no doubt about that. We at AiD are very blessed.

I actually thought it was ALREADY like that, but shows what I know about Patreon. Question though: If you decide to upgrade your pledge, does Patreon charge you for the increase upfront in full? (I.E. Increasing a 5 dollar pledge to a 10, and being charged an extra 10 dollars up front)

Hey Helmet. Heres the details on how you get charged when you change things. https://patreon.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/210291283 Its pretty straight forward. If you raise a 10 dollar pledge to 15, you only get charged 5. Only thing is, you can't lower it on a whim which is the whole point. Check out the details! Hope it helps.

Thanks for telling us! And I agree, it definitely should've been like this from the start!

I'm very happy with the change. As you said, it should have been like that from the start.

Umm... I thought the charge for the pledge was immediate starting on June? http://i.imgur.com/tFDh9aj.png

You have my support! :)

Huh, I thought there was something to prevent pledgejumping already, but guess not. Good thing that it works now, though :D Completely support your choice.

It's June already here in Japan. Private message us if you have further questions. We'll figure out a way to give you a refund if you feel strongly about it.

Ya, I couldn't believe that patreon worked like that when I found out. It's crazy that they have the system like they do.

Haha, that's funny considering I just pledged in today. I noticed that it charged me immediately and thought t strange but I didn't mind since I legitimately want to support you guys. Just finished fm2:a and man am I itching for more. I haven't seen story-telling this heavily charged in a VN like medium in a long time.

Will both smaller and larger production items be available for sale outside of AX? Or just the smaller production items?
