Hey folks, I've got something a bit different for you this week.

After recently posting a link to VR Hentai's work, a couple of you noted you'd like to see what my own stuff would look like in VR. Well to those people I say get downloading! It took a bit of figuring out but I'm relatively happy with the results (in my own rig at least).

I would've preferred to be able to do the 'true' type of VR where you can actually move around rather than a VR video from a fixed perspective, but this style is doable right now for me while the other one faces some rather significant challenges.

For those who use Vives, I just used the built-in Steam Media Player, but given it's a very straight forward video (360 degree | Left Right | 1080p) it should work in any software or device that supports VR. Also I'd recommend doing it seated as if you're standing you'll find yourself a bit short. Unless you are short then go nuts.

I may not have VR but this is interesting stuff!

It's just a different experience when you have to physically look up to see the top edge of the breasts. They look "big" in 2D but the sense of volume when seeing BE in 3D is jaw-dropping. Obviously there's not many of us with VR headsets so thank you very much for taking the time to do this for we happy few. This is an excellent first step into the VR realm. I agree with the want to be able to move around, but just static 360 videos like this one are a real treat, and are the standard for the most part. For the record, I have a Rift S. It's not as high resolution as the HTC Vive, but for me, it has been worth the price. Though, next time I get the opportunity to buy a VR headset I'll definitely be going for one with external sensors like the HTC Vive.

BacE

Well, I just have a smartphone with a €5,- headset and this truly looks amazing. Thank you!

Daebak

Excellent ! More please !

I'm glad you appreciate it, even if you're not able to enjoy it yourself :)

Glad you enjoyed it. It was fun to make and felt kind of different and special being 'inside' one of the animations I've made. I'm happy with the vive, though I'm still waiting for that killer lightweight no cable solution that the next generation (or after the one after) might bring.

begrove

That's exactly the response I was hoping for. With the number of options with things like google cardboard I kind of hope more people can experience VR as time goes on.

begrove

Glad you liked it - I'm keen to do more, but in the end it'll come down to the average patron's interest level.

LavaHot

Absolutely beautiful. Any chance we could get a higher resolution render?

Awesome dude! Can't wait for more! also I just wanted to confirm it worked with my rift s using the rifts media player. it did look a bit blurry though.

begrove

This one was a bit of a test run for how long these types of vids would take to render (given it is the highest resolution image I've actually rendered coming in at 3840x1920 and while it wasn't as intensive as I thought it might be it was still about a 4 days of full time rendering on both my computers. If I end up making more VR stuff I'll make it at a higher res but at the moment I'm not planning on redoing this one just yet.

begrove

Glad to hear it works! The blurriness may be because I had to put it through a filter to remove the grain (in Daz less grain = more render time). But something I can improve on as render tech improves to be sure.

Cylon Agent

This was already one of my favorite animations and this VR version was a real treat. I'm just using a Google Daydream Headset and 4k phone. With the 3rd party "SLR App" you can change options for height and viewpoint within a given range so even though the video was static I was able to get some really cool perspectives! Well done.

TK

This is super promising! The bitrate was really low and it detracted from the experience a bit. I'd recommend doing 180° videos because most people don't care to turn around and fully look behind them. It's what the big adult studios seem to be doing with VR right now. Unless stuff is going to grow around you, there isn't much value to rendering the room behind you. Saves you rendering and encoding time, and now you can essentially get almost double the quality for the same filesize! Also, I can't tell if you turned on DOF or not, but depth of field doesn't make sense in VR (as you should be able to look anywhere and focus like you can in real life). Finally, I'd think most of your viewers are likely sitting or laying down, so if you do make another VR test, maybe make one from a male POV of sorts, and put the camera somewhere that would make sense for someone sitting or laying. Male laying down with head facing forward in line with horizon, with girl straddling in a roughly cowgirl-ish position. Please do more 🙏

begrove

Nice! Really glad you were able to get it working (and able to even move it around a bit!

begrove

Hey TK, thanks for the feedback! The actual bitrate isn't that bad, the quality loss artefacts you're noticing is actually to do with the render method I use. I've actually found a solution for it just recently so future ones shouldn't have that issue. I know what you mean about the 180 version - I actually would've preferred to do that but Daz only has a 360 camera by default. I've since got a plugin that should allow 180 views in future as well. Good point about the DOF - I'll change it for next time. Yeah I've found camera positioning to be super important for things like this. I actually played around with 20+ different positions for this one before deciding on 'next to the bed' so you could get the best view of her. It's a hard call about doing more - personally I love them but while the response of VR users has been very positive and prominent there just aren't that many of us. In the end I have to allocate my time focusing on content that isn't as 'exclusive' if you will. I'll definitely do more, but when and how I'm still contemplating.
