The game DOES USE/APPLY Playstation HDR Calibration app settings.

The game HDR implementation is very good as it correctly applies the system HDR calibration settings in-game, while also offering additional HDR controls.

UPDATE:

The game may have an overly dim/muted look when system HDR Calibration is configured for HGIG.

For an even better HDR rendition in this case it is suggested to enable Dynamic Tone Mapping after having adjusted the system HDR Calibration for it.

  • HDR Brightness: this controls the overall gamma/midpoint of the image. The Default (50) setting already provides a balanced exposure, but if the picture is too dim or bright for you, you can tweak this setting up to +10/-10;
  • UI Brightness: this only controls the luminance of the user interface. The Default (50) setting is already bright enough for an HDR HUD.

Enjoy!

BONUS:

  • Disable Film Grain: to improve both clarity and contrast of the picture.

The game is using the system level HDR Calibration, which I've already updated adding the values for G3 here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/63780325 (it's +18 clicks for G3 = 1.500 nits) ;)

“For an even better HDR rendition in this case it is suggested to enable Dynamic Tone Mapping after having adjusted the system HDR Calibration for it.” So set our TV to DTM on then do the calibration? Or do the calibration in HGIG then set the TV to DTM on?

When using DTM set Peak HDR Luminance preferably to 4.000 nits (which is +25 clicks on PS5 Calibration app) and that's it.
