The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation HDR Calibration app settings.

Unfortunately the game has a worse HDR implementation compared to the two AC prequels (Origins & Odyssey) and as of today it's still one of the worst HDR implementations.

Even if Valhalla provides an actual Peak HDR Luminance control and an Exposure setting, the actual luminance during gameplay is very dim and "SDR-like", even dimmer than SDR in many occasions.

For this reason it is suggested to use Dynamic Tone Mapping in order to bring back a bright enough, "better-than-SDR" picture.

If you have an LG OLED and:

> you're using Dynamic Tone Mapping or Dynamic Contrast:

  • Set Maximum Luminance slider to: 4.000 (nits);

> you're using HGIG:

  • Set Maximum Luminance slider to: 1.000 (nits; as there's a bug where anything below this will just trigger HDR "Off") or 1.500 (for G3).

If you don't have an LG OLED and:

> you don't have an HGIG option:

  • Set Maximum Luminance slider to: 1.000 (nits);

> you're using HGIG:

  • Set Maximum Luminance slider to the corresponding real Peak HDR Luminance of your TV in "nits" but don't go below 1.000 nits.

In all cases set the "Exposure" slider to: 0.5 in order to improve shadow detail.

Was this ever fixed or updated by Ubisoft? Is the HDR still terrible?
