The game DOES USE/APPLY Playstation HDR Calibration app settings.

It has a good HDR implementation and is one of the few games actually leveraging system-wide HDR settings.

It also offers a separate Brightness control which can improve shadow details:

Set the Brightness slider to 60 to improve shadow details (which can be a bit crushed by default) and have a more natural look.
