What you've got to do is pretend to be fighting Derrick, but actually you're running the Slippi mod so he's really fighting some pro player online. He'll probably figure it out when his opponent uses the block button but that just means you've got to really sell it.

This same thing happens when my friends play Tetris with me since I'm the only one who played regularly and got good at it. I'm usually just the final boss or we do a 3v1.
