Pre-production, propmaking, costume creation, and more for Mega64's "Neon Genesis Evangelion In 5 Minutes" video began all the way back in summer 2019. Once the costumes were finished just before Anime Expo, we were so excited to tell that particular audience about what we were working on that we created a short teaser to show at our panel there. Though it seems cinematic, none of these shots were actually from the final video. They were costume test shots filmed hours before the panel took place (in fact, Misato and Lilith's shots were all shot on the roof of our hotel, lit only by the giant LED billboards atop the building). Sara's Misato costume was actually just her cosplay for the convention- and the "Lilith" appearance wasn't even part of the plan! It was cosplay made by our friend James, who gave us the costume to use once the convention was over. All the footage, and narration by our friend and artist Mariel Kinuko Cartwright, was thrown onto Rocco's MacBook and edited together just before the panel began. And not only was the excitement through the roof- it made the earth shake too! No, really. An actual earthquake interrupted the panel... Maybe God's more connected to Evangelion than the show even realized.

This teaser was also shown at Mega64 Gamedays 2019 and other events. The production was pushed back to 2020 where it was completed in December.
