I really love Kill la Kill and Imaishi Hiroyuki's works in general. I thought about this comic back in 2015 but I wanted my art to be better, so I put the script aside and kept drawing other things. Originally PADn'PAD was something else entirely and was also the major inspiration for DAMP! I'll get to this in a later post.

Here are some PADnPAD fun facts for you: Mako referring to "clogging the toilet all the time" (page 4) is actual canon in the show.

Ryuko's signature striped panties can be seen only a few times. Sorry about that, the padding stole the spotlight.

They do make a comeback as pullups, though!

I also inserted a couple of Mako hallelujah moments for good measure. It was very challenging to do in a comic fashion, considering how animated and wacky they are in the series but I had a lot of fun with them.

I also used plenty of screens from the show as a reference to draw all the background details, trying to be as accurate as possible.

Same goes for the series' general tone and even the transformation sequences for Satsuki and Ryuko.

A fun little detail: on page 34 Mako is swiped away and loses her shoes and nurse hat. She gets them back a couple pages later. It's a tiny thing but I thought I'd point out the small consistencies.

I also included a tiny detail you can only see for a brief second in the anime: Nonon's music book is filled with childish doodles and decided to include even that. It's very hard to see but it's there (page 21 bottom panel).

Sometimes these Amines are prime candidates for padding material, due to Japan's love of toilet humor and stress of everyday life in Japan. With the rise of Amazon Centers I'm surprised the U.S. is not open about padded humor. Although you get hints every now and then, if you look carefully.

I also love Kill la Kill and thought that you did the source material justice in the way only a real fan can.

<3 I'm planning to do a sequel where Ryuko gets potty trained, with all the sillyness from the original and added cuteness. I don't know when I ge to draw it, though. I need to see if patrons want to give up on DAMP! for the short sequel.
