Michelle

omg you guys have no idea how much i missed korra! im so glad to see it back!

Chelle

yeah I think Asami’s dad made a bit of a mistake teaching her how to defend herself 😂 it’s funny how people don’t trust Asami at first because she’s so overly nice it seems like an act, but this episode shows that that’s just the kind of person she is

TrixieTurner

I'd heard she was originally gonna be a bad guy but they liked her so much the changed their mind.

Kay

I always think of episode 5 as the hump of the whole series, not that there are enjoyable moments and y'alls reaction to it was hilarious, but once you get past it every episode after, starting with episode 6 is just a banger. For its faults, i love Book 1. Especially watching it when it came out, all the fan discussions, theories, all while not knowing if there would be more books. Cause the show was originally announced as only a miniseries. I think I lost my mind when I saw Lin do her seismic sense for the first time. Love that moment.

Matt Knowles

So Asami was originally was supposed to be a spy and befriend Korra and her group. But pretty late in in the writing process the show runners decided they liked the character to much and made her be good. Good thing they do, she becomes a very important character in season 3 and 4

Michelle

since everyones just postin trivia about asami now, id like to add that asami's designs is based off Lust from Full Metal Alchemist. Since Bryke are fans of that show too lol. Theres a lot of similiarities between FMA and ATLA like that!

Timothy Falk

"Road maps!" <- why you three are my favorite reactors, in two words.

Timothy Falk

"I think that's Zuko in the opening." I'm pretty sure it's Roku, but I'm not 100% sure. I think only the current and previous 3 Avatars are in the intro.

SaviorOfNirn

Asami is just the most selfless character in this show.

Kay

Sean doing his Alex Jones impression talking about the "Avatar Deep State" is one of the reasons why I became a patreon lol y'all have my exact sense of humor.

Ooooo I love the chat about development in bending skills and how firebenders seem less powerful now (in comparison) bc it makes perfect sense that the fire nation seizing power during the war and creating new technology and stuff that they also had a rise in spreading education on advanced bending. But now that all of the other nations are more fluid with one another, especially in Republic City, the spread and mixture of different bending techniques provided a huge advancement for others. (Particularly earth benders which makes sense given how fucking huge the earth kingdom is)

Michelle

plus in a modern city, where everythin is made out of metal and concrete, yeah earth/metal benders would be really useful. and powerful!

Buse

i need yall to come back to this reaction when you finish the series lmao

Jam

Oh man some of my favorite moments in this series are coming up.

TigerlilyWarrior

Anyone else having problems hearing Korra? Reaction fine but can't hear the show....

Sneaky Poptart

Like Mark from Invincible LOL!

Sneaky Poptart

I watch FMA brotherhood almost every year. How is Asami like Lust? or do you mean just the design of her character?

Jackie

Here we stan Korra, Asami, and Lin

frnknstndrgqn

Gamora and Nebula should join the evil dad's club LOL

Eric Smith

The characters in the opening are the four most recent avatars: Kyoshi, Roku, Aang, and Korra.

GodKingSosa

knowledge of the arts belongs to everybody. in a time of peace I'm sure knowledge of the bending arts were spread like info cards. like look at how Bolin described bending in the city for her, "light on your feet untill you need to dig in then pop pop." that sounds like some basic level airbending form to me ya know

GYRECK GAMING

Bending has definitely become more advanced, but the high level bending has definitely not become trivial. We saw a few people in the power plant lightning bending doesn't mean it's common. Aside from the nameless people in the plant the only one's we've seen lightning bending have been Mako and Lighting Bolt Zolt.... a Pro Bending Athlete and the head of the largest mob in Republic City, so it's still a pretty big deal.

G

Yes, Korra, Mako, and Lin too imo.

Dana

I've always thought of the advance of bending (more people being able to do rare skills) is kind of like gymnastics. When you look at the winning olympic vaults from 50 years ago, it's like one really good flip. You look at the winning vaults now and they're filled with all kinds of crazy twists and turns. I think as time goes on people just naturally advance to what might not have been thought possible a couple decades ago. They could have used that logic when deciding to make subsets of bending more common. I read an article once that people thought running a mile in under 4 minutes (I think it was 4?) was physically impossible, but once someone did it for the first time, a bunch more kept doing it as well because they broke down the mental barrier of thinking it couldn't be done.

Sean Silence

Asami was like "oh, by the way, did I mention I'm a badass?"

Yusuf

Can you imagine how many mental barriers we are filled with as we speak?

Dana

Oh man, I think my brain is melting lol. So many possibilities.

Briana J

"Sometimes you gotta hoe your daughter out to the street rats."

rickie woodson

you were almost on point when you said sato is batman. he's more like j. jonah jameson, complete with the mustache, mech suit and "you're a menace to society". for those not in the comic know, jameson bank rolled a lot of villains to take out spidey. he financially paid for scorpion to be made. he had a mech suit/robot made that he controlled and the head was a big tv screen with his face on it so he can taunt spidey the whole time as he tried to kill him. WILD. thats why i can never trust a dude with a 'tasche.#noshade #keepsmooth
