The creators were really screwed over a bunch by Nickelodeon studios during the production of this show. They kept being told that the season they were writing was gonna be the last for the first half of this show. It sucks that this show had to suffer cause fucking Nickelodeon apparently didn't have the faith in these brilliant minds so they were stingy with time and money.

they had their budget cut a bunch of times and yet they still put together an impressive lookin product. seriously, the animators who worked on korra had their work cut out for them and still mostly delivered.

While there are 4 seasons, they were only ever approved for 1 season at a time. So each season is a self contained story. No multi-season arcs like ATLA.

I can't unsee Lin as Spider-Toph thanks to the Normies. LOL it sucks how cop-centric or authority-centric this show is given the world we live in today but I think they're going for a procedural noir vibe like old Batman.
