Hey hey Yall!

We are back with one of the damn funniest fucking episodes of the show yet! It's hilarious, its character driven and it has SWINGING GRANNIE TITS!

Is this one of the best GOTHS IN HOT WEATHER cartoon sequences ever?!? HOW FUCKING SICK is the fight between ATLA Joe Rogan and Aang in STONE DICK FOREST STATE PARK! And also isn't it weird how satisfyingly mean is the Evil Animal House Party Crashing moment at the end is?!

I'm a simple man. I see SeanTankTop has posted, I click.

Mitsy

This is such an iconic episode!!! (Will you be posting the next twilight reaction this month?)

SeanTankTop

We will. Working on the YT edit rn!

SaviorOfNirn

I've been waiting for this one since the beginning!

Chelle

“My own mother thought I was a monster... she was right of course but it still hurt” This line is both hilarious and genuinely kinda sad

SeanTankTop

Given what we know now, yeah it is. I am a touch more unforgiving of Azula than most people but there is an air of tragedy to the whole thing!

SeanTankTop

Indeed prepping the YT edit right now and will drop New Moon correspondingly. It will be on the Vasal Tier!!

David Proby

I love this episode because it dives into the teens inner turmoils and challenges they face. Also, gives you a glimpse into Azula's mind with the line "My own mother thought I was a monster...... she was right of course but it still hurt" When you guys get a chance after this season is done, there's a video about an hour long diving into Azula's psychology if you're interested in watching it

Kayla

OKAY SO. We never really get an explanation about how the assassin's ability works but basically, he fire bends with his mind which triggers the explosions. He channels chi energy from his stomach and focuses it on his forehead. The energy creates invisible-like bolts of energy, kind of like fireworks, which then travel and explode on impact.

Aidan Pullen

Yeah, Combustion bending is a sub-bending ability in Firebending. Very rare. They also typically always have those forehead tattoos. And yeah, Ty Lee is easily the most crushed/ lusted on character in the show, which is pretty controversial. Always gotta remind people these are minors.

Jam

Love the characterization of Azula after Zuko calls Ty Lee a circus freak. She laughs, but then she looks concerned when Ty Lee gets upset till Ty Lee looks at her and she plays it off like she doesn't care. It's a small, but telling detail in that scene.

Bobby Manhas

Not sure if you noticed, but Chan, the guy hosting the party, is the son of Admiral Chan who was on leave at Ember Island for two months in the first episode of season 3, when they discovered that Sokka and his dad captured the ship!

Mo

I always enjoy this episode but that fight with Aang is one of my favorite parts. It’s so sick!

Danae Younge

I think Azula pretty clearly has severe mental issues and she's struggled with that since childhood. That's why her line about her mom is tragic because of course her mom had reason to think she was a monster but at the same time she just looked at her as a lost cause instead of as a little girl with mental problems who needed help.

Danae Younge

Then Azula was left with only Ozai as a parent and had to develop her idea of what love was around their relationship -- a relationship which was ultimately just him using her as a tool for his own benefit. That in turn, is reflected in the way she expresses "love" to her friends, it's not real love but she doesn't know enough about real love to realize that :(

I think combustion man keeps too far back for toph to try and bend his limbs. Especially since she has less practice with metal bending.

Jacob Shaw

Part of the reason I like this episode is that it shows they're still teens in some ways. These are 16 year old kids who've been fighting a war for 3 years minimum! Zuko alone has lived through two assassination attempts, a siege, multiple fights with the Avatar and Earth Nation forces and yet is still having girl problems at home. Azula and her crew: a sadistic calculating incredibly manipulative killer who has commanded massive war machines, almost single-handedly orchestrated the overthrow of the Earth Kingdom...has never been to a party and doesn't know how to interact with teens her own age.

Brianna Grout

I agree while Azula is considered "bad" she's ultimately a victim of her fathers nurturing while Zuko lived the last three years under Iroh's influence. She was taught to be that way. Thats why I have a soft spot for her especially in the later.

Michelle

this is also one of my favorite episodes simply because its really funny, and serves as a nice breather before the heavy "heres all the lore and plot" that comes after lol. also yeah the beachwear is a lil too risque, especially for a kids show. i think they actually got notes from the network about that and these are actually the "less risky" outfits.

Libby DVR

Ty Lee would never do something like this on her own. It's important to remember how Azula threatened her and played mind games to make her join them. That threat is also there for Mai. Mai is being gloomy this episode because she has held a candle for Zuko for so many years, she is finally reunited with him and he's being a jerk. She was sick of his shit by this point as everyone watching was after the end of season 2. She says, "He's impatient, hotheaded, and angry." And we see him being jealous and controlling. I love that she holds him to task. People often say they wanted Zuko too be with someone who makes him soft. It's not a woman's job to heal a man. Mai also defends Ty Lee. She tells Zuko to leave her alone. So I really disagree that Mai was trying to slut shame. She just makes a pop psychology observation in her usual monotone voice. I don't think it was judgmental at all.

rickie woodson

best season! almost every episode is a banger and this is one of them! love this team (minus zuko). especially my girl tylee! she is so me!!!!!!!!

Ruma Risto

Zuko is acting like a jerk but he really has had a terrible life. His mother disappeared, he was mercilessly abused and mutilated by his own father, he spent 3 years in exile without a home or any real friends (except for Iroh). The flashbacks to his childhood reveal a truly kind and thoughtful boy who just couldn't match the expectations of his megalomaniac father. It's very rare for a kids' show to have a character like Zuko. I think Azula is the only one that is a "piece of shit" but I love her too. She was only raised as a tool for war and even though she is clever and brilliant, her father never truly loved her. He may have respected her, but never loved.

rickie woodson

boom boom spraky man! forgot he was in this. i just focus on the beach part. and yeas morgan is super relatable

SeanTankTop

Oh totally! I’m apparently a hardened Texas Lawman when you put these scenarios in front to of me, and at this point Mai and Ty Li would prove themselves a lot later in this season, so you’re right!

rickie woodson

not slut shaming cause thats not a thing. azula said it: she's jealous. ty lee is HAPPY! and got her shit together. people are always jealous of people like us. it doesnt help that she is super pretty and guys are drawn to her and not the others so.......#fixyourlifefiregals

rickie woodson

so an ember island mtv reality tv show is what you want lol

Ruma Risto

I don't think the mother loved Zuko any more than Azula. Azula just felt that way because her mom didn't approve her toxic behavior. I believe Ursa didn't see Azula as a lost cause but as someone that needed guidance and tough love. And deep down I think even Azula knows this.

SeanTankTop

Oh sure, again this is a first run impression and I sometimes, prolly through my past situations with enablers and the like, can come off a little harsh! There's humanity in about everysingle character in this show, save Combustion Joe Rogan possibly!

SeanTankTop

A generation of simping for Fire Nation was born of this episode without a doubt.

SeanTankTop

that makes sense, she's prolly gotta be right up on it and literally touch it and he'd have blown her little damn head off if they'd tried it.

Geno

I love that Mai snaps at Azula here. You can tell the tension and resentment between them is building.

Rodrigo Borges

dying that we got a new form of fire bending and a ton of character background in this episode and the post episode discussion is mainly centered around ty lee's titties lmao Her power!!!

Anonymous

This episode is so cringey and angsty but at the same time so self aware that it's cringey and angsty that it becomes a low key hilarious masterpiece...... Teenagers tbh are cringey angsty shit heads.

AstaMonsta

next episode is very informative and amazing

Patrick Boyda

Spoiler alert: The bald assassin isn't totally silent, he has one line right before their next battle. Aang and co look up at him in fear, and he gazes back down at them, assurance and cruelty on his face, and he says... "You ever try DMT?"

selina

That's my read too and it totally works with his character design! The third eye design on his forehead is a Tilaka associated with Shiva, whose purview is like death/destruction/rebirth (and dance! hacha) and he's associated w fire (the three lines are supposed to be drawn with ashes even). Supposedly when Shiva opens his third eye, it destroys everything it see, including the world. The concept of the third eye is all about transcending the physical world and there's an idea that should the third eye be powerful enough, you can act purely through your consciousness by focusing your energy through your third eye, bypassing the body altogether. Which is really what sparky sparky does, tho maybe not totally since he's still definitely using his breath, idk. I love that detail about his bending too--the shot of his abs working before he fires a shot is wild. His diaphragm must be just damn. It's just a perfect callback to Iroh's fire bending comes from the breath speech. Anyway the third eye on combustion man just works on like 50 levels is what I'm saying

SeanTankTop

Lolololol. Sokka spits some random conspiracy theory at him that no rational person would entertain and he just roasts a bone right quick and says “Well, that’s interesting.......”

Baron Salt

Tylee and her sisters are actually identa septuplets, an identical set of 7 babies born of the same parents.
