In terms of the themes of "Uzumaki" honestly, all are valid. It's a very abstract piece of work. And having a Japanese vs. American perspective can greatly influence the reading of Uzumaki. I hate how much discourse when it comes to "media literacy" is centered around how the themes of a story need to be cut and dry or that there is only "ONE" way to interpret a piece of art. I think the fun is the fact you can pull a lot of things from this. Again, worth checking out the full manga. Each story is more fleshed out, nothing cuts around in pacing. The spiral madness that succumbs to the town is more gradual and slow. Loved that y'all gave this a watch and didn't immediately hop on the hate train as soon as the animation quality "dipped". And frankly, despite knowing all the mishaps that happened to this adaptation, as a long time Junji Ito fan, this is actually one of the better adaptations of his surprisingly. I still thoroughly enjoyed watching this and would recommend it to anyone who loves horror!
