I felt a few plotholes in this one, but they're minor and I'm opening to being convinced otherwise. It only sticks out because the first 4 eps felt flawless. - Like Morgan said, how could the Maroni boss not smell gasoline on her son? She hugged him like she thought it was water, but it should've been stinking up the whole room, right? Wouldn't that indicate to her immediately that Oz is about to do something? - Why would Viti not run away or get a gun on Sofia the moment he was free? It seems out of character for a supposedly cunning or at least functional underboss to not expect her to retaliate against him. He's one of the major people that contributed to her torture for 10 years. - Why does Oz's mom need to be moved? No one knows she exists. It seems like she is in more danger by going to Crown Point and Oz coming to see her, and she was in no danger before aside from being a danger to herself with her dementia. And it's not really a plothole, but I really wonder what kind of utility a washed up psychiatrist from Arkham has as a bodyguard. Why does Sofia keep him around? 😅

Agreed tbh the gasoline thing could maybe be explained by an odorless flammable liquid (which do exist) and not actually gasoline. Regardless I think a wet son should have set off alarm bells but maybe she wasn't thinking straight iunno. I find Oz's mom to be less of a plothole because Oz is clearly paranoid and not thinking straight at that time so making a blunder like that would be in character maybe.

Prediction: Like Sean...I think Penguin is going to kill his mom. I didn't like the idea at first when it came to me because it was too much like JOKER in that way. Originally I thought Sophia was going to do it...but I think Oswald is going to. Like we heard, his mom is the only thing keeping him good. And when that breaks with her death (which will happen. It has to.) he will become the villain we know. The reason I think he will do it is because she's an emotionally abusive parent. And he will reach a point where he is succeeding and she can't see that. All of this abuse will finally get to him. And I agree with Sean. She will laugh at him and he will snap. Or she will go on a tirade with very abusive words and he won't be able to take it anymore. Or I'm wrong and Sophia will do it. Either way...the mom is going to die so Penguin can spread his wings...but never fly.

I don't know if this is too much explanation but the reason I think this is BECAUSE she is verbally abusive to Oswald. She is awful to him. They built this from the beginning that his mom is awful. They are doing that for a reason. But she is bad for a reason. She said "The east side of Gotham is cursed because it takes everything from you." Everyone is a victim of their circumstances. Shit I love this show. It just makes me ponder forever.
