Oh So Hero! Dev Preview #6 (Patreon)

This development preview will give you a look into new features coming to Oh So Hero!

The game's two developers, Ket & Red, comprise the programming and art/animation sides, respectively.

Here are their updates!

Ket's Update:

All of my work regarding memory fixes is complete! The game performance while using SD quality animations in v0.16.200 should be the same as v0.16.000, and similarly free of memory leaks. The High Quality animations will need to undergo further optimizations over time, but they are quite usable, especially if you have a faster machine. You can check the linked post or the Changelog to see everything that's new.

As was voted on, I have begun work on a new gameplay element for sex animations. This will give the player control over a previously passive-only part of gameplay. This is used in nearly all cases except for when in a power struggle (mash button to break out). This mechanic is purposely simple:

A marker moves from left to right on the rhythm meter located at the top of the screen. It's currently using placeholder graphics and basic rules, but the idea is that a well-timed press of the attack button will skip additional loops and progress the action more quickly. This next image shows where you want the marker to be when you press the button:

This is optional, of course. If you mistime it or choose to press nothing, the animation sequence will simply play out in full exactly as it always has. The benefit of this mechanic means you can have sex with an enemy to regain SP and then finish more quickly if you have the right amount of finesse.

This feature will be expanded upon in the future to account for different situations, such as collectible upgrades that will allow you to progress through the action even faster. We hope you enjoy this new feature and look forward to your feedback when this comes to v0.16.300!
