Chapter 3 Page 8 (Patreon)

heyy on time page for once! This week we're back to the character we briefly introduced in Chapter 2 - Filosof ("Philosopher" in Russian. I was trying to use existing  Russian mafia names as inspiration, which are anything but sophisticated. This one in particular was given to "Filo" for being just a little bit too smart for his own good. We'll learn more about him as the comic goes on :D

I've been trying to leave a bit of an art commentary each week and insights to my process to make it worth your time, but this week's page is fairly straightforward. I did look up some references for Filo's car, which is a Mercedes 600SEL - an iconic car for "New Russians", criminals and mafia members in the 90's Russia. Of course, I didn't get to draw its outside, so it hasn't come in handy just yet :p

Other than that I'm trying to use coloured contours more - it always adds extra depth to my colouring. I used to save it for extreme lighting and effects, but really, I think it's about time I made it part of the style for this comic. :D
