He stole a forbidden Jutsu given him sewing powers, the village imprisoned him n sentenced him to death for failing to kill 1st Hokage… and the elders who sentenced him to death were the first hearts he stole. Just some clarification, the forest where Shikamaru is fighting Hidan is the Nara Clan Forest, a forest where only members of Shikamaru's clan are allowed in (just his family, not the hidden leaf village). Also, Shika in Shikamaru translates to deer.

I have to agree with that. Sometimes I think the fillers is just a wast of time, but at the same time I see a stronger relationship with the characters in fillers. In this next filler, for example, we see very good scenes of Naruto and Jiraya.

I’ve mentioned this in a previous episode but the Shika in Shikamaru means deer in Japanese. Shikamaru’s last name is Naru which is also a city in Japan known for the deer that approaches people to bow. Shikamaru’s teammates, Cho in Choji means butterfly and Ino means boar. When you combine them they make “InoShikaCho” which references a card combination in Hanafuda.

When the time comes please don't skip Kakashi's backstory (kakashi gaiden) and Yamatos backstory (in Kakashi:Shadow of the Anbu arc) That arc is filler but it's almost canon or should've been canon. You guys can't skip it. Builds so much to both of those characters and it's probably the best fillers. Imo all the fillers that are about the past generation (kakashis) you should not skip, else you won't understand everything later on.

I remember introducing Naruto to my ex girlfriend 5 years ago. We would watch it together on discord. Then, i had to stop watching for 1... ONE single day, and she watched 12 eps or so... and she was always rejecting all anime stuff. After that i would just watch some with her now and then, until THAT arc came... you guys who already watched the show know what i mean... We watched all the arc in a single day until 2 or 3 am. And i swear she cried more in that arc than she ever did in life, even more than when her grandpa passed away. After that we stopped watching together and 2 weeks later she texted me saying she was over the show and i was shocked but also so happy for her, and proud. Naruto is just to good for a show. I'm glad you liked it, and we get it, we don't ever want this to get over, but the waiting is still painful, but that's ok... since we all know pain very well... Keep enjoying!

The fact that this is so hype and yet One Piece regularly surpasses it still blows me away. I still love Naruto for how amazing it is as a smaller series. It definitely stumbles here and there in shippuden especially in the later portions, but it's moments and early to mid sections are just incredible. One Piece has a similar stretch of Goated material rom like the 140s to the 500s that's just amazing.

As an "as airing" watcher who recorded this show every Saturday night, (yes, it also only came out once a week), I am glad you guys are enjoying it at your own pace. Binging is amazing for the hype, but you miss small details. And taking too long can make you forget important details. Watch it at the pace you feel best and most comfortable with.

Im caught up on the manga, I seriously try to like Boruto, but I find it hard. Doesn’t have that same magic as Naruto. The villians are not as interesting as the Akatsuki, and just a lot of aspects of it come off as corny or cringey to me. The anime has a few decent parts but they are so far and few between, even if you skip all the filler, which like 70% of the freaking anime. I do hope they end up reacting to the canon movies (naruto the last, and Boruto movie) those are really good IMO.

Sure some aren't great but some are fun, funny, and you get to see a lot more of the cast and tailed beasts. It's so annoying hearing people tell reactors to always skip them.

I absolutely love both series and each does something better than the other. One Piece IMO has better world building, lore, and characters. I personally enjoy high points of one piece more than Narutos. They just hit more emotionally for me. But those high points are accompanied by very drawn out poorly paced low points in the anime. Sometimes it feels like it takes forever for something to happen but when it does, it’s so worth it. Naruto has a lot of epic and hype moments and more consistent highs, especially when you skip the filler and especially from this point onwards, it feels like everything keeps getting better and better and something epic keeps happening. I cant put one series over the other but i have to heavily disagree with saying One Piece anime is bad, especially after the back end of the last arc that released. And whats going on with the Manga right now, Oda is an absolute GOAT

In episode 93 there's a beautiful moment between Jiraya and Naruto that I'd recommend watching also, as it ties into something later. It's from the 4th minute to the 7th minute.

Apparently ratio of filler to canon is 40:60 and if you have ~410 episodes left then you actually will watch about 250 of that and watching it 4 episodes per week means you should finish in a year and a few months :) Probably a good controlled pace but the dopamine addict in me wants more as well

Guys from Kakashi's perspective the reason he saw the Fourth Hokage in Naruto is because he was Kakashi's teacher and the one who created Rasengan but never managed to implement his chakra nature to it, so Kakashi seeing his student master what Kakashi's teacher, the fourth, failed to do made him see the visualization

I remember when I watched this and always having such a sense of relief when Naruto showed up, not because of his fighting abilities which are getting better but because he doesn’t give up even if he’s getting the crap best out of him. I think one of the most touching scenes is Shikamaru lighting Asuma’s cigarette then saying ‘good bye Sensei’
