This is the one arc that I think the Live Action does better than the anime. This is definitely the weakest arc in my opinion.

I always felt they went the poison route in the Live Action because it's cheaper to put some blue coloring in food then hire a bunch of extra for a pirate crew for villains.

in the live action you can spot half of Django's poster on the wall behind Buggy's (https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePiece/comments/168uo88/jango_in_the_liveaction/) Also Kuro's poster was in the safe Nami opens but you only see "Kuro" because it was rolled up.

2023-11-16 09:09:41 I'm so happy that you found out so fast about one of Usopp's strength points, a gadget guy 😁 Just a tid-bit, you guys already know that Ussop's VA is same as L, and that's actually most of his job before One Piece, he's been doing "cool" characters like L in death note, Shinichi in Detective Conan, Inuyasha, etc. All of them are calm, collected, cool characters. So when he got the role for Usopp he and his fans had a hard time adapting to it because Usopp is kinda like coward and comedic character. But now we all can't think of any VA other than him to act as Usopp. 😁

I think you can and even should compare things like character traits between the anime and live action, the only issue is don't expect everything to happen exactly like the LA

When I first started watching one piece years ago and watched this arc, I felt like I was reading a story written by Shakespeare. A lot of one piece stories are very “dramatic” with heavy usage of dramatic irony. Oda’s story telling really has that perfect mixture of Shakespeare-like comedy and tragedy. It’s a wonderful journey and an emotional roller coaster.

It’s wild that Usopp just cracks Klahadore, wild Usopp basically tries to kidnap Kaya, and extremely wild that Merry shoots a man and feels no stress about it after. I skip the recaps to this day, once the title card comes up is when the episode actually starts. People shade this arc a lot and the live action clips through at a nice pace, but it’s cool to see more out of Usopp, Kaya, and Kuro. They did him great in the live action, but the upcoming episodes show Kuro being really cool - in a bad way lol

Literally was about to ask if you guys found Kuro less suspicious in this, but as I was typing it you mentioned it. It's almost like making Kaya drink BLUE FKN SOUP was an obvious giveaway and completely killed the mystery or something lol That was a really weird decision in the LA. I think you'll find similar nuances different here with other characters too as you get closer to where the LA ended. I can't overstate my excitement for you guys to reach the Arlong arc in the anime 😊

I think Kuro’s design and his habit would’ve just stood out so much in live action that they just leaned in, definitely better done in the anime - but they could only do so much in live action

Yeah that's how it seemed to me as well. I felt they leaned into it and did it pretty well anyway. Kuro's actor made it work 💪

i feel like the LA made it obvious kuro was making poison because there was only 8 episodes and the reveal was only in like 2 episodes from what i remember. also, if the tea was normal color, people would probably question how that tea is poisoned, you know what i mean?

this made me curious so I did the math real quick: 4 episodes a week, so 270 weeks to catch up to this weeks episode. By then another 270 episodes are added, so it will take 330 to 340 weeks for series catch up. So you will catch up before you get old, it will just take a bit longer than 6 YEARS GYAAT DAYUM

YO, how can u not comment on Luffy saying: As if we'd risk our lives because of a sympathy? That shit is deep and beautiful and shows his character, which i believe is very different in LA
