To answer y'alls question about opening songs being created for the anime itself, the answer is yes. Believe it or not but anime openings and endings are what make a lot of these bands blow up! Also, if you were to go back and watch previous aot openings and endings with subtitles, you'd be mind blown by all the foreshadowing given within the songs! Y'all should do a video reacting to all openings and endings 😁

They dont care about spoilers in the openings because first most people in Japan already read the manga and second they just dont see spoilers the same as we do, for them it's just teasing and à way to hype people. They do that for a lot of anime

the thing about openings is that in japan almost 99.9% of people read manga so openings often contain spoilers . recently japaneses (especially the last 5-6 years) studios started to avoid putting big spoilers (or more like in a subtle way) because they are aware that their foreign audience is big and they know that not all of them read mangas .

I’m an anime only watcher, and the opening literally shows the rumbling happening, Annie de crystallizing and the march on marley with big ass eren in the background. It spoiled the fuck out of me when I first watched the op as the episode came out. Because I didn’t know what direction the show was going to take before the OP. So I wish I hadn’t seen it.

I thought all of the composers have to know the story by something like an image cuz they have to understand the emotions or atmosphere created by the characters and they have to express that feeling through the song. I once watched Sawano Hiroyuki's interview and he said something like this. This is why I really respect not just only composer of the anime but everyone who composes the song cuz expresses emotion through the song is not easy it's not just lyrics but melody(did I say it correctly?) is necessary too, all of them are so amazing.

Frankly, i don't like the full version and the music video. The video feels like i'd watch Tokyo Hotel, from early 2000, they look kinda cringe and the video too. And the parts of this song, that were cut from OP, also worse than the rest of the song that was used in the OP.

There's kinda few animes that use music already created before. Like there's that one Japanesse song "Chiisana Koi no Uta" (covered by many artists), used for "Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san", and this season used as ending for "Otonari no Tenshi-sama". Or "Kanade" which got covered into an Isshukan Friends Ending. There's a lot more, but i've watched too much anime to remember.

I prefer the ending and previous opening “my war”, but “the rumbling” rocks too. Openings and endings usually are made for the show, yeah… so they have to write the lyrics based on what happens.

this song goes way too hard. and as a manga reader I totally didnt mind this "spoiling" the show it just feels weird listening to this intro every episode and no actual rumbling happens... so just feels kinda out of place but man its a BANGER. My fave line has to be "tell me what did I miss" because Eren had the founder and attack titans powers, hes the only person who can see the future as well as the past and thats exactly why hes doing everything he is doing and the "wat did I miss" part is others trying to tell Eren he is wrong... but how would they know? do they have the assault titans power? or the founding titans knowledge?

And my personal opinion on watching the OP and possibly getting spoiled makes no sense to me because ppl who watch trailers to something.... u basically watching an OP with actual spoiler scenes from the show or that season from that specific trailer lol. So I never understood ppl who will watch trailers and AMVs, yet will skip the opening for spoilers. Plus they only watch openings once so its fine imo. its whatever tho

As a watcher of your reactions I’d just want to get the most out of your reactions per episode as opposed to some thing that’s watered down if you guys had watched the opening. I understand that most things rumbling are a given but not knowing when it would happen and in witch episode just made the reaction better. Otherwise you would’ve seen eren get shot and been like “but the rumbling still hasn’t happened… he’s not gonna die” something like that. Idk just my take on it.

Yes, all the openings or endings are written for the anime itself, they don't take a song that already exists. And usually the lyrics have something to do with the anime or the characters. I don't know how it works exactly but all the singers and composers have to know how it will be or what the story is about to make the songs based on that.

So, I'm a bit late to the party here. Like, half a year late. But anyways, so far as I understand it a lot of reactors skip openings and intros because they don't wanna risk getting spoiled or something along those lines. My personal opinion, and keep in mind that this is just an opinion, is that there are spoilers, such as being told who the titan-wielders are before they are revealed in the show, and then there are teasers, such as being shown what the nine titans look like but not learning anything more about them. Openings and Endings are teasers, not spoilers, and should be watched twice per season at minimum; once when it first shows up and the content of the video doesn't really make any sense, and then once again after you have finished watching that specific season, so that you can fully appreciate it and the effort the studio put into making it..

Some anime songs/ openings are created soley for the anime , so they’ll have to least read. But some songs animes use are made by artist in their own respected albums that was made before the anime/manga was even a thing . It just all depends and varies .
