The seemingly excessive narration on the nuke was to show how a relatively weak nuke could still decimate the most powerful organism in existence,where the king even after winning was willing to keep part of humanity alive,people at the top wanted all ants dead,playing into the theme of humans being worse than the ants.

The fact that this show isn't like others in its category in the way that it shows that man-made things can outclass the power system of a world is why I think that this show is one of a kind. The fact that a low-budget bomb could destroy the most powerful being we have seen so far plays into Togashi's themes. Really good stuff imo

Looking back at how Pitou came to them in the beginning of this arc, just for fun to find out which was stronger and toyed with them, I have zero sympathy to Pitou 😂

I was also mindblown how Togashi made Netero's strategy. No matter what happens, the King's already over the moment he went alone...that's why Netero needed to separate him with Royal Guards, but even the separation was all accidental because of Komugi injured. Such a good writing.

I think that is the only way it would have worked because otherwise they were prepared to fight in order to separate them. I don't think Zeno and Netero would have been able to pull it off there at the palace with the Royal Guard there and back then, they didnt even know what their abilities were or how strong they are.

I remember a review about HXH somewhere, I think from Super Eyepatch Wolf, but he said something along the lines of "Hunter x Hunter is a show about people" and I think that really encapsulates the show. It is a show about humanity as a whole and even though it takes place in a fantasy world, the themes centralize around the interactions between people and the ants only emphasize that through the comparisons and contrasts between humans and ants.

Its not just the unpredictability though. I feel like some stories get carried by shock value and plot twists but it rarely ever feels forced in hxh.
