Scott’s comment about scientific discoveries is actually pretty interesting, imo the best example of this is evolutionary biology. From Darwin’s assertion that humans shared a common ancestor with fish (based on the study of embryos) to recent discoveries about DNA and the fossil record, it becomes very hard not to conclude you’re not just eaten by worms at the end of the day
