Background line art is done for the next big episode, and I'm about to start animation. Here are a few of the BGs-- I don't want to spoil the story too much but it's the longest episode yet, and it's entirely new locations! All in all there are over 50 I had to draw. I think this one is going to be about ten minutes long, although if I can somehow get it shorter and still effectively tell the full story with less footage to animate, I'd be happy!

Also here's a dumb little joke I made yesterday, one of those relaxing cozy "Ghibli jazz"-type cafe music covers but of Motorhead.

I love them. They make me think of all the conversations I've taken part in, or listened to or read over "style". "I love your style" is one of my least favourite comments anyone can pay. So many of my favourite artists arrive at a very straightforward, "this is just the drawing I made" kind of place. All the information you need is there, the compositions are visually engaging, enough detail, and the lines don't have to be fuggin perfect. These remind me of old Untalkative Bunny BGs and stuff Nick Cross was doing back in the day. Not like they could be swapped in for them, but the underlying approach. People get fixated on the individual drawings too often, and don't think about them as part of a whole. Can't wait to see more.

Thanks a lot Mike, always happy to hear your thoughts! I did always love the look of Untalkative Bunny and Nick's work is of course incredible. A lot of my favourite stuff has a wiggly, messy, hand-made look to it. Plus I've never been great at clean, smooth linework so I try to embrace the imperfection and have fun with it. Wabi-sabi artistic philosophy really resonated a lot with me when I was reading up on it.
