Gatekeeping about people enjoying Stalker in the wrong way? Grow up dude, this isn’t the 90’s anymore. The fact that anyone in the godless year of 2023 is sitting down to watch a 4 hour Soviet sci fi movie from the 1970s is a freaking miracle

Robert Rostant

My favourite thing about Stalker is the part where the guy says "they say you only live but once" I was watching it with a friend and I turned to him and said 'Yolbo'

(brandon:) I clearly still didn't get my point across - I do want everyone to watch these movies, I just don't want them to think they've seen everything. It's probably a bay area/new york problem where people make "knowing about film" their personality while researching no further than criterion.

I can definitely see what Brandon is getting at - the people who watch these "important" films and put them in their top 4 on Letterboxd without properly interrogating if they actually liked or understood a thing are definitely a-type-of-person... but if we’re honest, we all catch ourselves doing this from time to time too so a level of self awareness is probably required when throwing those types of stones.
